I'm Currently Feeling: | Weight watching pregnancy buddies Ladies,
We all spend so much time thinking/talking about controlling our weight when pregnant. I'm, of course, not recommending that anyone strictly diet while pregnant, but I was wondering what you ladies think of eating a SUPER healthy diet while pregnant....which causes you to maintain your weight. I should mention that I'm currently considered "Obese". To look at me, you'd just think I'm overweight. I'm not sure anyone in the street looks at me and thinks "obese".
Anyway...I had this idea...What if we encouraged each other to eat SUPER healthily during our pregnancies, so that we can control our weight and stay healthy?
I thought that posting what we ate would be a great way to control our eating, get ideas of what to eat from other people, and encourage everyone to eat healthy stuff. What do you think?
I"ll start, just to give you an idea. Please critique my diet...let me know if you think it's too much or too little...or unbalanced.
I should note that my nausea so far has been quite mild, so I'm able to eat normally.
Breakfast:
2 small slices of 12 grain toast
1/2 carton of egg whites (microwaved without oil)
Snack:
1 yellow pepper
1/4 cup of red pepper dip
Lunch:
3-4 cups of salad
2 tblsp fat free dressing
3 oz. canned salmon
Snack:
2 rice cakes
1/3 cup cottage cheese
Dinner:
4-6 oz. chicken
1.5 cups steamed veggies
1.5 cups of another steamed veggie
Salad w/ olive oil based dressing
Dessert:
2 dried appricot halves
3 dried prunes
Drink: Water throughout the day
This is my planned menu for today. So far, I'm on track. Now that I've written it out like this, it seems like a lot of food! I'll either eat all of this...or less.
What do you think? |

I'm Currently Feeling: | oh how i wish i had done this is the start of my pregnancy! i have so overindulged it is scary! i dread the 'aftermath' of my oral pampering.
never mind, it is fixable and i have enjoyed myself!
your plan looks very healthy - just don't grudge yourself a wee treat here and there.

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hey ladies,
Here is an AWESOME website that allows you to list what you've eaten today, and then it gives you a complete analysis of what you're eating too much of, not enough of, etc. It's amazing!! It's a free dietician online... http://www.formulaforlife.com.au/ |

| Can I suggest anyone planning on doing this consults a doctor before putting themselves on a regimented diet (not being a doctor or a medical website I feel obliged to say that before anyone points the finger at BnB). Depriving your bodies of certain things during pregnancy can cause serious problems |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Just be careful won't you girls?
It's great to eat healthily during pregnancy, well at anytime lol, but you still do need to take in extra calories for baby
I would suggest talking to you MW or GP about a healthy eating plan rather than a random one on the net
I don't want to having to worry about you wasting away |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Agreed. Sorry I wasn't more clear on that point. I didn't mean to suggest that people start dieting. In fact, I've been reading a great book by a nutritionist called "How to eat healthily before, during and after pregnancy".
If you're overweight and consistently eating more calories than you need, then even though you're pregnant, you don't need to increase your intake of food!
I merely recommended encouraging each other to eat healthy foods and to be conscious and in control of your weight gain throughout your pregnant. Limiting your weight gain to healthy amounts is much healthier than just packing on the pounds. So....eating healthy and maintaining a steady and appropriate weight gain is the way to go!
Sorry for the confusion. I do hope others will join me in this healthy eating post...I think we could all use a little encouragement every now and then.
Cheers |

The book sounds great |
