I'm Currently Feeling: | Yeah think it is coz your gums are more sensitive. I have been putting this off for ages I am so scared of the dentist. But the pain in unbearable now its waking me up at night think I may have an infection. Just spoke to the dental department in my local hospital and they have booked me in for tomorrow. So hopefully get it sorted then x |

You should be able to get it in any health food shop or somewhere that sells essential oils It's really good but try and not get any on your tongue cos it makes it go numb LOL it's like going to the dentist and getting an injection. |

| Hi KHartnett,
First post on here, will get round to properly introducing myself at some point, but thought I would answer this for now.
I am a dentist, and would certainly suggest seeing your dentist to check things over, it should be free on the NHS for you now as you are pregnant.
Pregnancy and all the hormones with it make the gums far more susceptible to infections, and this frequently occurs over and around the gums by the wisdom teeth. Clove oil does indeed work for some people but I would also suggest you rinse your mouth out with warm salty water 3 times a day, after every meal and esp before going to bed, keep the area clean.
If salt water is difficult for you to tolerate then I'd suggest corsodyl mouthwash.
Hope this Helps! | | | | Status: Offline

I think it maybe my wisdom tooth cutting through at the bottom right hand side but as you said could and/or be an infection. I have plucked up the corage to go tomorrow will they give me anti biotics?
They cant x ray me to see what happening with the wisdom teeth can they?

| Hi Kasey,
If your wisdom teeth are cutting through what can tend to happen is bacteria gets trapped under the gum around the partially erupted tooth which leads to gums which can get quite sore and inflamed. Use the salt water mouth rinse as that is a natural disinfectant and keep your appointment for tomorrow. Your dentist will be able to tell quite easily if there is an infection, x-rays are obviously best avoided. If he/she feels antibiotics are needed then they will give you a dose that is safe for pregnant women.
As for my pregnancy- God don't ask, I'm off work due to severe morning sickness i'm 9 weeks today, just hoping it'll ease off at the 12 week mark so I can go back to work!
