I'm Currently Feeling: | I work for the Government of Canada. I consider myself to be exceptionally blessed to have this job because the maternity leave is just.....unbelievable.
Government workers get 1 year of maternity leave, paid at 96% of their regular salaries.
That's not a typo. |

That's not a typo. | Wow that is lucky.
Anyway, I get 6 months pay at 90% of my wage, up to 9 months of statutory maternity pay which is £118 a week then up to 12 months unpaid leave. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | That's pretty generous too! I get 6 weeks at 90% pay, then another 12 weeks at half pay (plus SMP on top) and then up to 9 months SMP and 12 months unpaid. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Wow, as far as I know my contract says 1 month at full pay, the law is 6 weeks at 90% so atm my thinking is I will get 1 month full and 2 weeks at 90% and then I guess I will go back to work as cant afford to live on £117 a week. My salary is the main salary as DH just starting a new business so it looks as though its 6 weeks for me. I haven't spoken to my boss in full yet but that's what my contract says. |

My mum had to go back to work when I was 6 weeks old and she cried cos she didn't want to leave her baby. 6 weeks is NO WAY near enough. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I'm going to have 9months off. I work for a london based firm. And they do
6weeks Full pay 12 weeks half pay and 21 weeks stat maternity pay.
They then add the lot up and then divide by 9 and then that way you get 9 equal payments.
You also get a £1,000.00 cheque as a gift if you want it. Basically if you take it and then leave the firm after your maternity leave depending on when you have to pay it back, if you stay for 6months then its all yours.
We are opting NOT to have the cheque as if i dont come back or only return for a few months then it loads of hassel sorting out what i owe of 1K |

I'm in Canada as well, but have only been a permanent resident for 9-10 months or so. Meaning I didn't have a full-time job when I got pregnant (was doing temp work) and just kept up with that until recently. Not going to be getting any mat leave or anything. |

I hope you at least could take some sick leave, vacation time, or even unpaid leave!....
Best of luck!! |

| wow some of you have some great maternity packages!
mine will just be statutory as I work for a small organisation that has never had to deal with maternity pay so I was asked to find out and so it will just be statutory so as soon as I go on maternity from that date I will get 90% of my salary for the following 6 weeks and then on to £117.38 a week whooppeeeee! I will then be on this for 6 months I assume and then the remaining 3 months you don't get is that right?
Am not 100% sure myself to be honest apart from I think I will emigrate to Canada for the next child!
