Totally and Completely Frustrated

AHHHHHHH!!!!!

So glad I can come here and vent, I have had the most frustrating morning.

I have been trying to get into the OBGYN for over 4 weeks now. After 2 weeks my GP's booking coordinator phoned and they said "we're behind, call back in two weeks". So she called again yesterday and the answer was "we won't see her until at least August so have any required tests done through her GP....

So I phone the GP's office this morning. I would really like an ultrasound and the NT test. However, the GP's nurse didn't think that I needed it (I am over 35 and dang it, I think it's important!) So she finally agrees that the GP should schedule the ultrasound and off she goes.

When she calls me back it's for August 1st... hellooooo... way too late for the NT. She says "my daughter is your age and didn't have a problem, you don't need the test"...???!!!! WTF!!! She offers to book me in to see my GP, but can't put me in to see him until mid July... hmmm... TOO LATE!!! Finally she puts me on hold.

Comes back on the line and asks if I'm willing to see another GP, that understands the tests (my GP avoids prenatual like the plage) and is willing to see me TODAY. FINALLY somebody who will listen to me.

This is insane, but wish me luck, I see the new doctor at 2 and hopefully she agrees to send me for the NT.

UPDATE:

So the Dr. I was was AMAZING!! She does prenatal care regularly as part of her practice so she totally understood my concerns and was completely supportive of getting me the test AND adding one more (a quad blood test). This increases the accuracy of the screening by a HUGE amount but it has just started to be offered her in my home town this year!

She even went to her other office (on a different floor) where she normally does her baby work and brought this little gaget along so that...

DH AND I COULD HEAR THE HEARTBEAT!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sooo excited.

She said I should hear about the test either this afternoon or tomorrow. She's going to have her people book it as they have "connections" when the timelines are tight like this.

Wow, what a difference. I feel so much better.

That's brilliant news Codegirl. Somewhat similar to what I had to deal with to get my scan.

I'm pleased that you found a decent doctor and it's great that you got to hear LOs HB That's my fave bit. Ican't wait to hear Bubble.

Well done for being persistant.

So I just got a call from the Dr. (she calls, not her nurse, how cool is that?) and she was unable to book both the ultrasound and the bloodwork for the same day/same place.... however, I'm still getting the tests done

I go for my testing ultrasound on July 7th

I go for my regular "first" ultrasound on August 1st

I go for the quad bloodwork test anytime between August 1st and August 7th (probably do it at the same place as the second ultrasound, so Aug 1st)

She was so cute, told me that because I'm a patient at the clinic that I can call her anytime even though she's not my primary care physican. Also tried to talk me into going to a different hospital for delivery so that one of the specialists she works with could do my care and she could stay involved.... very tempting, I am thinking hard about that one.

Life is good and I will keep you all updated.
