I'm Currently Feeling: | Calcium! dairy products dont bode to well with me right now, and tend to make me a little sick. How can I get calcium, i read conflicting things about '' lay off the dairy to prevent nausea'' '' you need calcium for baby to grow properly'' blah blah.... what do YOU do?

I'm Currently Feeling: | You can get it from such other things.
Dried figs, Almonds, Brazil Nuts, Wholemeal Bread.
You can also get it in a supplement but i've only ever seen it mixed with Vitamin D.
Try going to maybe Holland & Barratt or similar and seeing if they do just a calcium supplement. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I take a calcium supplement, actually take 2 calcium supplements daily. I'm not a milk drinker, and as soon as I told my GP this she told me to start taking the calcium. You may want to ask your doctor about it. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | i don't have a lot of calcium. Don't drink milk can't satnd the stuff so when i was preganat first tri i made sur ei was takin supplements. But then my MW told me to stop because they have vitamin d in aswell, and because my folic acid does then there was a good chance i was overdosing on vit D. Thats prob true because about 2 days after stoppin supplements i didn't feel as sick. Have tried to find calcium on its own but not had any luck. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Black beans, spinach, corn tortila, mustard, salmon, tofu, sardines, couscous, baked beans, oranges, lentils,
Remember that being pregnant does not increase the amount of calcium you need in your diet. I was shocked by this, but the amount you need stays the same before, during and after pregnancy. Its 1000mg / day.
When you are pregnant you absorb more calcium from food (esp. 2nd and 3rd tri), so the body becomes more efficient. If you do not have enough in your diet the body takes calcium stores from your own bones. Thats not great for you, but there is very little risk that your baby will not get enough. Same story - you will suffer and not the baby. |
