I'm Currently Feeling: | Downs screening Hi all,
Ok, i am having my nuchal scan on Friday and getting quite nervous about it!
Apparentely 1 in 20 get a high risk reading, but 4 out of 5 of those high risk girls go on to have normal babies!!!
How the hell do you decide what to do for the best!??? ANyone had a high reading???
Thanks |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I haven't had one of those scans yet, but I too am nervous about it. The more time goes on the more I have decided that if I get a high reading I will just carry on without the further test because my worst fear is having a further test, finding out everything is ok then miscarrying.
Good luck and I hope everything goes ok. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Im not sure Im right here but maybe you can research it - I think they can do a level 2 scan and look for soft markers...thats if the nuchal scan puts you at high risk. Am I right? |

| If you come back high risk I think you have the option of doing amniocentesis but it's quite risky. 1 in 150 people miscarry b/c of the test. I guess you have to decide whether leaving it to chance and hoping for the best is best for you. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I didn't have it because I knew I couldn't have the amnio and then I would've worried the whole time unnecessarily. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I think I'll have the test if I'm offered it but wouldn't have the next one if there's any risk to LO. I'd only have the test in the first place to prepare me a bit for the eventuality.. Don't think I'm being much help am I?
Maybe you could decide what to do next once you've had your results? I'm sure they give you lots of time to think about what you want to do next.
I hope it all goes really well

I'm Currently Feeling: | I havent been offered it in the for of a scan but have been offered the triple test which i am having. Im pretty against having amnio given the stats so unless im reaaaally high risk im just going to leave it at that |
