I'm Currently Feeling: | I had the NT scan and came back with a 1:5900 risk which they classed as a negative result. It think its generally accepted that 1:250 is a 'high' risk but that still means 249 of those hypothetical babies born would be perfectly ok. If my risk had been 'high' I think I would have had the amnio. I'm 33 and know a couple of girls around my age who had numbers much lower than 1:250 (one was 1:10) and had the amnio and their babies are fine. I also know another girl my age who's had abnormalities picked up at a scan and had CVS which has an even great risk attached to it than amnio. The baby has confirmed abnormalities but Dr's still cant say exactly what.
I think its totally a personal thing. There's a very good chance that your baby is fine. I think what influenced my decision making was thinking what I'd do in the event of being told something was definately wrong. If you know the answer to that, then you'll probably know what you'll do. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I had the test and was "low risk". I donīt think I would have had an amnio because of the miscarriage risks associated with it. But the nuchal scan is, in itself, no risk to the baby because they did it as part ofmy 12 week scan. I wanted to know so I could prepare myself mentally if it was high risk, forewarned is forearmed as they say.
Hope this rambling reply is some help! x |

Good luck and I hope everything goes ok. | I am the same, not even sure if to have the test yet, and time is ticking I am supposed to say at my 12 week scan but I can't make up my mind. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | my midwife said there is a 1% risk of m/c with the test that follows the nuchal fold test IF it shows there is a risk of d/s.

I'm Currently Feeling: | We paid to have the NT scan for downs, mainly because we weren't entitled to a 12 wk scan as i had to have 2 early scans due to heavy bleeding.
We came back as very low risk think it was 1:15000 for downs and 1:7500 for edwards.
Glad i had the scan. But don't know what i would have done if i was high risk. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | good luck with the test. i just had the triple bood test and i came back as a low risk so it was just left like that. i don't know why i bothered cos i wouldn't have had an amnio if i had come back as a high risk. i guess it just puts your mind at rest.
good luck - i am sure it will be fine.

I'm Currently Feeling: | like many others, I decided not to have the tests done as well...I know I would just worry what if what if if they were even to allude to something being wrong...But my DH has some friends who were told they had high readings and they have a healthy baby....Best of luck! |

| I decided not to check for downs because i had already seen my little one and i wasnt sure what id want to do if it turned out he did have downs so because of that and my doctors messing up i havent had it and at my 20 week scan all is fine and hes healthy.
A girl my sister knows had a high reading and had a termination at 4 months and had to give birth to her baby turns out the baby did have downs but why put yourself through that | | | | Status: Offline
