Hi Fossey!

I am not sure what tests you have had done, but the usual blood tests done in pregnancy are done between 14 - 18 weeks. In the UK, they usually are:

* test to see your total blood count (to see if you are low in iron)
* test to see which blood group you are in and if you are rhesus negative or not.
* test to see if you are still immune to rubella (German Measles infection)
* test to see if you have certain sexually transmitted diseases (i.e. HIV, syphillis, Hepatitis A/B)

They also give you the option to test to see if you have a risk (they cannot give you a conclusive result with bloods only a percentage risk) for Downs Syndrome and Spina Bifida.

Doctors don't usually routinely do an HCG blood test, but will do one if there is a concern or if you push for one.

Urine tests are usually done at every midwife appointment and are checking for infections, protein and sugar in the urine.

I am sure your tests are just fine and if you do have a slight infection, it will probably be easy to clear up.

xxx
