1st Apt with the Midwife at GP's surgery

Went pretty well, she was really lovely. Told her my concerns about miscarriage but she told me all that I am experiences at the minute like cramping, sore boobs, tiniest bit of bleeding the other day, tiredness, is all normal and as long as I do everything I am doing I will give my baby the best chance I can and can do nothing more, the rest is up to nature. I felt a bit better after that, pity you couldnt see them eveyday for every new worry I will have! Next step is the midwife comes out to my house!! Is that new? Never heard off that before. She said that they take a more detailed medical history so that when I got for my first scan at 12 weeks all the hosp have to do is take bloods and do a scan. I know it would have taken a lot longer doing the history today but find it strange they come to your house, is it to have a look to see if the surroundings are suitable for a baby??
sorry 10 million questions!!

where abouts are you from? my m/w is comming to see me on friday its beacause when you go to hosp it would usually take 3-4 hours to do everything bloods, scan, paper work so shes comming to do all the paperwork to cut down the time so they can fit more people in
plus its more homely for you

Hi,

I've got to ring and make my first appointment tomorrow. I'm wondering about home visits too. I don't want one yet!!! I'm just not in the right situation for a home visit to happen. We haven't told anyone yet and have decided to sort a house out after my 1st scan when we know everything is going as it should.

Maybe it's just because they find it's cheaper than using a room at the surgery? Don't think they're going to judge your house on if it's suitable for a baby or not at this early stage? I don't want to be judged!!!
