omega 3

hey everyone,

so a few weeks ago i went to my doctors to ask if i could take fish oils (incl omega 3) because of my eczema and he said it is not worth it because in his little book of pregnancy unsafe medication it said ''only to be used if benefit outweighs risk''

now, i assume its safe to eat naturally occuring omega 3, but what about the pregnancy vitamins with extra omega 3? are they safe? im so confused, i mean, they wouldnt be able to sell them as pregnancy vitamins unless they were completely safe, but then why did my doc tell me its not safe to take them whilst pregnant? any ideas?

thanks

x

at my OB orientation the nutritionist told us if we could, to take fish oil. i guess maybe it's a difference of opinions and your doctor thinks differently...

i personally dont think it's bad.

hmm i think i will check with the women's hospital when i go there, theyre probably more likely to know arent they? its just a bit worrying cos my doc had a book that had omega 3 in so i dont want to take it if there is actually a risk

I'm taking a pregnacare double pack that gives you normal pregnacare and omega DHA's. I think it helps the neural tube develop.
