Hi Ladies...

just found out ( well about a week ago) that I am pregnant..! was a HUGE shock but a very welcome one and am extremelly excited about the prospect of being a new mummy!

I went to the docs who confirmed it but apart from that told me nothing!! How many weeks I am is hard to work out as my last period was on 22nd March but I had about half a days bleeding on 20th April. Does this count as my last menstural cycle or should I be working it our from March? The doc really didnt know.

I know the antenatal clinic will tell me but I soo wanna know how far I am!!!

Your half day was probably implantation bleeding from the sound of it - unless your AF is normally that short. You could also be one of those girls who continues to bleed a little each month when your AF is due. Its not that uncommon from what I have read. Count from March 22 if I were you, but perhaps one of the girls can better answer this.

I would go on the 22nd march which would mean you are now 11 weeks!!! Im so surprised your doc didnt say this?? And you should really be having your dating scan soon!!!

Thanks girls..that helps...well he did mutter about maybe im 7 or 11 weeks but just said he'll write to the antenatal clinic and get me an appointment...is this ususal? I kind of expected him to give me a bit more info!! just so annoying not knowing!

well I had my first bloods taken when i was 11 weeks by the MW..... has he booked you in for MW appointment???

When did you find out your were pregnant??

They should try and get you in before 13 weeks for your dating scan as they are less accurate after 13 weeks as babies start to grow at different speeds then!!!

I did my first pregnancy test last wed, then another on the thurs and another saturday morning!! Had docs monday morning...no he honestly didnt say much about what the next steps are..just said i would get a letter with an appointment...

i am concerned that if i am 11 weeks then I should be getting more care.. ie midwife scan..?

all you can do is wait for the letter then hun... i think!!! I really think you should phone your surgery and book a MW appointment however!!

I went to my docs when i was like 5 weeks and he helped me work out my EDD and booked my appointment!!

Maybe your doc was having a bad day!!!

Aha, another Scottish girl in the same boat as me. I got my positive tests Sunday and Tuesday and went to the doctors last Thursday. She asked where I wanted to have the baby and said she'd refer me there and I would get a letter from them but they probably won't want to see me till about 12 weeks (I was only 4 last week).

That was as much info as I got other than to go back to the doctor in another 4 weeks with a urine sample. No mention of midwifes or booking in etc. It sounds like you are waiting for your letter too!

Do you know how long your cycle usually is? It sounds like the half day bleed could have been implantation BUT I would go with 7 weeks just weeks now because it's difficult if you think you are nearer the 12 week mark and get put back. On the other hand if you think you are only half way through that period and find out its actually nearly over then you're laughing.

I'll let you know when I get my letter from the hospital and what the date is on it.
