I'm Currently Feeling: | I'm so grumpy! Hey all, I hope it's okay to let it all out -- I figure you guys will understand more than anyone else, so here goes.
My hormones are driving me crazy! I'm seven weeks today, so I can't wait to see what happens when things really get going -- it's possible someone may get hurt.
Three weeks ago my hubby got sick with gastroenteritis (stomach flu), and then I caught it. Fever, diarrhea, vomiting, it was horrible. It lasted two weeks, and I lost 13 pounds. The only thing that kept me going was Gravol -- without it, nothing would stay down.
At the same time as being sick, I was also withdrawing from caffeine. I had just found out I was pregnant, and stopped caffeine cold turkey, so I had headaches and was extremely irritable on top of being sick.
My MIL lives down the hall, and she's sweet but a real busybody, so we haven't told her yet. She's pestering me, wanting to know why my hubby is all better but I'm still nauseous (stupid hubby told her I was still throwing up today). In addition, my own mum (who we told a week ago) has been offering unasked-for advice and it's driving me nuts. Even my dog is bugging me right now - he woke me up at 8am to go outside, and I found myself getting angry at him because he didn't pee enough -- here I am standing on the lawn of our apartment building, saying (out loud) to my dog 'you know, you could have held it and let me sleep another half hour, jackass!' The neighbors are going to think I've gone insane if I keep that up! Today I found myself swearing at a TV commercial and scowling at a neighbor for no real reason; I'm just very very grumpy.
It's bedtime, and my 'morning sickness' is kicking in -- anyone else have it worst at nighttime? I sleep with a bucket by my side, and lately I've been waking up in the middle of the night, nauseous but ravenous (what a fun combo -- I need to eat NOW, but everything looks/smells gross). The other night I found myself making two peanut butter and banana sandwiches and wolfing them down at 4am. I have NEVER experienced hunger like this before, it's astonishing. And if you're standing between me and the refrigerator when it strikes... watch out.
Please tell me I'm not the only nut out there. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | ALl I can do is sympathise I'm afraid. I'ma few wks further on than you, but I can't believe how sick I've been getting - and the evenings seem to be the worst at the moment. I read somewhere that eating a banana right before bed can help stop you from waking up in teh night - think I'm going to try that tonight
The one thing that helped me last night was a slice of lemon in some hot water, sipped slowly.
as for the hormones, i'm not suffering too badly - but just keep taking deep breaths and sleep as much as possible, that way it's just hormones and not sleep deprivation as well.
good luck x | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thanks to all of you for the replies, it's so good to know I'm not alone
I feel better today. We've been having an argument over the cat litter for the past couple of weeks, and I finally won! Hubby wanted me to keep cleaning it (we each have chores that, over the years, have become 'ours'). I finally put my foot down and said I wouldn't do it, and he's taking over the job for the next year or so. Even if it wasn't potentially dangerous, I still wouldn't want to do it -- talk about something you don't want to face when you're nauseous, nothing's worse than a box of poo!
I'm trying to stay positive right now, reminding myself that I thought I might never have a baby. It's no fun right now, but the payoff at the end will be worth every bit of suffering we're all going through | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Don't worry honey we're all feeling the same. I'm so over sensitive right now it's ridiculous. I've gone from someone who was so chilled out to taking offence at the slightest comment - most of which are probably completely innocent. After flying off the wall a few times and bursting into tears a lot I've decided to try and just keep my mouth shut for the moment I find that ignoring poeple who're irritating me and then thinking it over once I've had a chance to cool down are easier to deal with - and far less embarrassing. Having said that it's much easier said than done especially when you feel so crappy anyway! |
