My GP spoke about putting me on Prochlorperazine, but he said that the effects of the drug on pregnancy are not yet known and it should only ever be used when the benefit outweighs the risk. ie, you're so ill that you're not getting enough nutrition, and you're at risk of harming the baby or of having a miscarriage.

Here's some reading for you:

Thats actually quite grim reading. Why the heck would he prescribe that given that she has not been hospitalised and her uncontrollable vomiting has only just started?

another note most anti sickness pills are from the anti psychotic family dont panic about that bit, they help with the vomiting but not that well and do nothing for my nausea

Thanks UV. I cant even get her to take a paracetamol so I've got no chance with this. Gonna try protein bars next I think. Been reading some stuff that suggests protein before bed helps. Will also move the time of day she takes her pronatal vit from morning to night as the iron in it can make you sick. Anything is worth a try.

Some pregnant women do get perscribed it, but my GP did make a fuss over it being very last resort.

A lot of morning sickness originates from low blood sugar levels as well as hormone levels. If she's not keeping much down, try innocent smoothies for vitamins and calcium (lots of calcium in oranges) ice lollies, ginger biscuits (we eat ginger when airsick from flying) and peppermint tea. Try to give her something before she gets out of bed in the morning as this is when our blood sugar is lowest and we'll feel the worst. (hence the term 'morning sickness)

Also, if you're worried about her getting the right vitamins and minerals, Boots stock something called 'Pregnacare'. It's folic acid plus everything a woman needs vitamin wise.

Don't do what I did the other day and drink lots of water when having a dodgy stomach. It doesn't stay down long
