Strep Throat

Uggg.... I always battle with a sinus infection and strep throat and I think I'm getting both now.... This will be the 1st time I've had it since being pregnant. I just know I'm coming down with it - I feel exactly like I feel every time I have strep and a sinus infection. It really sucks and sucks more now since I'm pregnant!

I have no idea what strep throat is!!!

But, it sounds crappy to me! This is one of the downs sides of early pregnancy...... lower immune system! Booooo....

Oh my Cinderella I hope you feel better soon

I use to get it so much before I had a tonsillectomy(tonsils removed) I was sick a week while I was pregnant and my baby got a lil bigger rather than smaller...I was so worried about my beanie when I was sick cause I slept alot..But beanie got the nutrition from my prenatals I guess..Hope you feel better extra soon I hated strep throat Ice pops and chicken soup worked for me...And Vapor rub..Good luck..

Well I went to the doctor and he gave me 4 different medicines to take to clear up the infection and make me feel better. He assured me all were safe to use during pregnancy. I went to the pharmacy to pick them up and double checked with the pharmacists for the safety of the medicines during pregnancy. The pharmacist told me that 2 of the 4 were extremely dangerous to take during pregnancy - especially during the 1st trimester - they can cause major birth defects, lower the fetal heart rate, and also has a high fetal death rate! What an idiot that doctor was!!!! If I didn't double check with the pharmacy those medicines could have done major damage or worse to my precious baby!!! I am so upset right now. I got the two medicines that I am able to take safely, am taking Tylenol for the fever, and living off of Popsicles and chicken soup. Hubby just left to buy me some juice, more popsicles, and rent a few movies for me so that I can just lay around and rest.

Poor you - lots of liquids (although it makes you pee lots) helps to clear it out and also, if you can bear it some garlic (a natural antibiotic) and chamomile tea (for your throat) - but not at the same time of course (yuck!)

Hi there! I am a little over five weeks pg... I got strep throat this am. The doc gave me amoxicillin. The ob and the family doc and the pharmacist said it should be ok. My fever is 102. I am very worried because the ob said that high of a fever can cause neural tube defects between 20-28 days after conception. (until 6 weeks!) I am just a couple days away! This is so so terrible!!!
