I'm Currently Feeling: | Low sperm count Well first, congratulations to all of you!
I was hoping someone would be able to help me. Is there anyone out there that has got pregnant with a partner who has a low sperm count? If so can you give me any advice? Found out today that my DH has and just need a little reassurance. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | It really depends on the reason for his low sperm count hun. Lots of things can cause it. The main reasons that are within his control are as follows:
1. Weight - overweight men statistically have lower sperm count
2. Diet - cut back on sugary food and drinks. Eat more fish and white meat. Get a healthy balance of fruit and veg.
3. Exercise - regular exercise improves physical condition but also improves general feeling of well being.
4. Stress - being stressed is bound to have an effect on sperm count
5. Age - not really withint his control
6 Smoking - stop it. End of.
7. Heat - he must not expose his man bits to excessive heat such as saunas, too long in the bath etc as that hinders production of sperm.
8. Bike riding - has been linked to damage to various parts involved in sperm production
You also may want to consider something called preseed. Its basically a special lubricant.
Cant think of anything else at the mo that can help, but your other half can PM if he wants to talk. Maybe he will feel more comfortable talking with me as Im a bloke. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thanks for your advice Spelbound. Doubt DH will PM you, but it's great to know that you're there. I can't thank you enough. We're not sure for the reason and here are my responses to your suggestions:
1. Weight - ideal to slightly underweight for height.
2. Diet - Has a healthy diet, but will try even harder!
3. Exercise - Gets regular exercise.
4. Stress - Not too much- just ttc stress!
5. Age - 25
6 Smoking - Never has, never will.
7. Heat - Nothing to report!
8. Bike riding - everyday-just 5 min bike ride to work. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Sadly some men are simply just genetically made up to have low sperm counts. I dont mean that in a bad way - its just simply part of who we are as individuals. I would seriously give preseed a go though. Had reports on here of it working a treat. You might do well to read up on techniques to conceive, timing etc....I'll post some more stuff for you tomorrow as its late and my pg OH is demanding my ass to keep her warm in bed lol. Take care. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | My DH had a low sperm count, when last tested. He was also told he had a slight varicasy(sp). The specialist we saw put hubby on folic acid, vitamin C. 6mths(last two charting) after trying, with that advice, we got our BFP. I can't say enough for charting... it really helped me. So if you're not already, I say go for it. It helps increase your odds. There is still hope sweetie, I know how you feel right now. Try not to get too gloom and doom, do some research and don't give up.
BTW, my DH rides a bike to work too and they do make bike seats that are soposed to help with that too.
Lots of luck!!

I'm Currently Feeling: | I watched national geographic's "Into the womb" the other day, and they mentioned that coffee makes sperm swim faster and harder. Not sure how true it is, but worth doing some research into. Good luck and baby for your journey |
