Well I had my 12wk ultrasound today and it was absolutly amazing and one of the most incredible things I have ever seen. I went into the ultrasound nervous as any mom would be with all the thoughts "Is the heart going to be beating", "will they tell me baby hasn't grown?"...etc but when she put that on my belly and all of a sudden little bean was there it was perfect. His/her heart was beating away, little hands and feet going, scratching his/her face it was truly spectacular and definitely a huge difference then my little blob ultrasound at 7wks+2days. Baby was measuring the correct date at 12+2 and she said s/he was about 5.7cm almost 2.5 inches!!

They did however, say the fluid around baby was more than they would have liked to have seen. She checked babys brain and leg and arm lengths and said everything looked fine right now and they went and got the results from the spina bifida/downs blood testing I had done. They said my blood work came back perfect and chance of baby having downs is 1/700 which she said it really good. They are now thinking it "could be" (not saying for sure) a chromosonal abnormality. She said one of the frequent ones is Turners Syndrome. She did give me options and said I could get the CVS or amniocentesis done and find out the results and if there is something wrong with the baby then we can abort the pregnancy. I told her that wasnt an option and said I wanted to wait until I was 18wks to have my next ultrasound so they can check the anatomy and whatnot and then MAYBE have the amniocentesis done. The more I think about it the more I really dont think I want to do it...if something is wrong with baby we will deal with it later on I dont think there is any reason on terminating the pregnancy at all. The thing I keep thinking is what if the fluid is nothing really to worry about and then I get the amnio (risk of m/c being 1/200) or CVS done(risk of m/c being 1/100) and I end up having a m/c because of it...or they say something is wrong with baby and I aborted it...how would I ever know for sure? What if when baby is born s/he is healthy and fine? I would feel so awful for not giving the little one a chance at life...I just cant do it and I will likely opt out of the amnio after my next ultrasound. She said there is still risk of me to miscarry from now until 18wks because of the fluid so to watch for cramping and bleeding...I think everything is honestly going to be fine.

My next ultrasound is at 18wks+ which will be July 9th...and I will most likely find out babys gender!! Yay!!

I'm sorry to hear about their concerns, but you're right, in all likelihood it's nothing to be worried about. So go with your gut and do what makes you feel good!

Thanks everyone!! It's definitely over whelming but so worth it!! Now I cant wait for the next ultrasound!!

Thanks CamoQueen...maybe its mothers instincts but I just feel like everything is going to be ok with this pregnancy this time around and even if its not I dont want to spend the entire pregnancy worrying about it...if it comes to a time when there is indeed something wrong then I will deal with it then for for now Im gonna enjoy my bubs!
