Noobie question about hcg

When OH symptoms stopped our doc was kind enough to do a blood test. We got results back today and everything came back ok except the hcg. I dont know if its normal or not but it caused our doc to raise an eyebrow.

Test was taken at 35 days LMP and its says 7115 mlU/ml.

Quite frankly I have no idea what it means or why the doc is raising an eyebrow at us. I asked but she just said nothing to worry about.

It's on the high side of normal for 5 weeks. The range of normal is actually so wide that it's crazy (18 - 7300 for 5 weeks). The doctor probably raised an eyebrow because it seems high, but then realised that it's in the normal range so said it's nothing to worry about. I wouldn't worry about it.

Its on the high side but my numbers were very similar at that point. His raised eyebrow may have been because he was thinking multiples. Like I said though mine were at the top end and I've just got the one in there!!!

Hi, your OH's levels are alittle high, however when im was 6-7 weeks pregnant and my hcg lvels came back at 25,000- very, very high!
At first they thought i was having twins, but it turned out not to be! Sometimes the higher the level can indicate a multiple pregnancy, however in my case this was just a healthy pregnancy ( or so i was told!)
This is most def not a bad sign, infact very positive to have high levels, xx

It sounds normal from what you've posted. On the high side, and high levels can mean a multiple pregnancy.

My HCG levels at 5.5 weeks were 17,500 which accounted for my horrible symptoms. They think I could have been carrying twins though.

I wonder if her size/stature should be taken into account? Does your size affect how much of the hormone you produce? Anyway shes not short, 1.65m, but she is a size 6. Just wondering

I dont know I was a size 6 before bump and i have very high level at just before 6 weeks i was on 35,000 and at just gone 6 weeks it was like 78,000 my body seems to have a problem with hormones and deals with them very badly as well lol, hence my terrible sickness! Also why I cant go on the pill she may be thinking of multipules or possibly that you are confused about dates and may be further along thanyou are, turns out i was 1 day further along than the doc thought (i think) but bang on what i thought i was. Its a very good sign and high hormone levels are an idication that everything is as it should be, or so my doc and midwife kept telling me :P
