met a midwife

well i went to meet my midwife on friday and it turns out she was only a stand in one (the proper one was off sick). it all went ok but a couple of things i found quite strange, firstly she didnt even do a test. her and the doctor have only taken my word for it, i mean she didnt even have a feel of my belly or anything !!!
I asked how long it will take for me to get a ultrasound appt and she said anything between 3 and 6 week. is it just me or does that seem like forever?!
I have been thinking over the weekend that maybe we should get a private scan just to put my mind at rest. what would u guys do? wait or pay for it?!

cheers
xxx

yes it was my booking in appt. i was quite disapointed to be honest. the OH loved it and was getting really excited asking loads of questions but it just seemed to be so pointless. they didnt tell me anything i didnt already know and then sent my home to fill out my notes alone. they did take my blood which was about the only productive thing the midwife did !!!
Another thing is i dont want to tell ppl until I have a scan and find out that everything is ok. if that means waiting another 6 weeks ppl will start asking questions like y arnt you drinking or smoking any more (i gave up last week )
it just seems like such a looonng wait !!!

That sounds completely normal to me. Neither my midwife or my doctor tested me or touched my belly (there is actually nothing in your belly untill you're 12 weeks +). I also only had my scan 2 weeks after my book in appointment because I had an emergency scan.

Same here. Seems normal, My m/w never tested me, and only felt my belly for the first time at 16 weeks. Sorry it was a bit disappointing for you, Also i would hold off paying for one until maybe 16 weeks or something as after the 1st scan you'll be addicted and not wanna wait till your 20 week scan to see bub's again. but again all your decision xxxx
