I'm Currently Feeling: | Help needed please - 1st Drs appointment I've been googling but then thought you lovely ladies would be much more help!
I'm going to give the Drs a ring tomorrow to arrange an appointment but haven't got a clue what it involves.
I'm presuming that you have to take a urine sample that they use to test? Or do they do a blood test? I'm totally clueless, don't even know if I should be booking an appointment with my GP or nurse (!).
Am I too early to be booking an appointment (got my bfp yesterday).
If anyone could just give me a vague idea of what I'm supposed to do / what's going to happen that'd be great. And if you know any really good websites that'd be great too.
Thanks in advance. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | i am sure every hospitals do things differently. my own told me to do a walk in blood test and if its a positive they will write me a referral. but as i said, i am sure all paces are different!! your best bet is to call and ask!

I'm Currently Feeling: | I went to the docs when I got my bfp at 4 weeks and 4 days and they made an appointment for me to see the midwife and told me how far I would be from my last period. I am seeing the midwife tomorrow and the hospital sent me a letter with a date of 23rd June for my scan - I didn't even expect the hospital to know yet... I think they're psychic and good luck!! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | When i went to the docs all she did was weigh me and check my blood pressure. she sent a letter to the hosp to be referred to a m/w
I think they all differ but in general i think they do urin and bloods at your first m/w appointment |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thank you xxx
I think I'm worrying because it's so early on and like everyone I really don't want anything to go wrong. Feel better having an idea of what might happen |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I went to the Drs at about 5 weeks or so after my positive home test. He did nothing at all. He didn't even tell me to take folic acid. I went away feeling pretty upset. All I could do was make the appointment with the midwife ages in advance.
I had my first midwife appointment today (10 weeks) and she took all my history and details, took bloods and also my blood pressure. No pee test. Gave me all the info in the world.
In between I've had spotting and by contacting the hospital direct got an 8 week scan at the Early Pregnancy Unit.
That's my experience so far! Hope that helps. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hey, dont worry sure all will be fine. My docs dont even want to see you. They just make an appt for you to see a mw by going on your word. Got mw today. Am sure you wont need a urine sample but they make take bloods and just ask them anything your not sure about. xxx | | | | Status: Online

I'm Currently Feeling: | I told the receptionist at my doctors surgery that i got my BFP and she just booked me my booking in appoitment for 8 weeks. The doctors didn't want to see me. Might be worth asking the receptionist, to save you a wasted journey. | | | | Status: Offline
