prenatal vitamins are grossing me out

they smell horrid - I've tried a few brands and the best one of the lot still smells disgusting to me. Then whenever I take them I gag and gag and gag like mad trying not to vomit them up. I've tried all sorts of tricks but it is the same no matter what I do.
Bean needs those vitamins. What can I do? I dread having to take them every day!

What vitamins are you taking?

I'm only taking Folic Acid at the minute, been taking it since I was 5weeks. Is there more I should be taking?

Thanks x

I'm taking a prenatal multivitamin and extra folic acid (because drs here say you need more than in europe)

I expect you are fine, but it wouldn't hurt to get a prenatal multivitamin too as then you know you are getting some iron and b vitamins etc as well. I seem to remember Boots had their own brand that wasn't too expensive.

Shri try Materna. I'm taking them. They're huge, but they don't have a smell at all? I'm taking them plus another folic acid supplement as well. I've had difficulty getting down pills since I've been pregnant, I gag too.

i really cannot stand mine either hun, and i DO actually vomit them up (sorry tmi) . i did see and talk to an OB who told me if i am sick and they are making me sick, stop taking them and start up again when i feel well enough to take them. i take one maybe every 3 days now.

but you're not the only one who gets sickly over them!

You'd think the companies that make them would have a clue to not make them too big (gag) and do something to make them not smell (gag) wouldn't you?

Rae - I will look out for Materna - thanks!
Donna - good idea hun x

You can get them at Wal-mart if you go to a pharmacy. I think they're like...11 dollars or something for a bottle. I know my friend is pregnant and she has some sort of organic type and they smell like grass.

Hmm I could handle the smell of grass. Vitamins themselves smell horrible though. I'm there trying to get the tablets out with one hand while holding my nose with the other! LOL!
