That was in the same book where they can't make their minds up. | I agree. And what bothers me is they do studies, and they say this certain food is fine until another study comes out and they say it isn't. It seems to go back and forth all the time. It all can make a pregnant woman so paranoid and it's bad enough we have enough other worries.
It's definitely hard to avoid so many foods. Quite truthfully, I eat the same as I have before being pregnant and did so with my others too. |

My DH always says things about what his mum ate when she was pregnant with him, and he came out 'alright' (of course i always joke with him and say 'i dunnoooooo you have quite a big head!!!') he is a sweetie pie though, one thing i DO follow is to have my steaks and such cooked welldone, and DH has his done the same way now "incase i want a bite".
Oh and the rice thing...it will be Armageddon if i ever cut rice out of my diet |

Haha! That's the thing and at the beginning it's almost impossible to stomach anything anyway. Got to be better to eat something than nothing even if the only thing you want is scrambled egg or fish or whatever. If you cook and you always practice good hygiene in the kitchen etc then I don't see why the risk of food poisoning should suddenly become bigger just coz you're pregnant. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Good points all round! I was a paranoid freak the other day even about spicy foods cos ''friends'' (well-meaning I know!) like to educate me about what I should/ shouldn't be eating in pregnancy.
But I agree that women of our mothers' generations and before that never had all these rules and we all made it!
My mum was encouraged to drink Guiness for iron and there were no such things then as ''peanut allergies'' which seem to be getting more and more widespread.
So as someone said above as long as the hygiene side of things is good, it's prob best to relax and eat what you feel your body tells you to. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Just wait ladies until they say "no chocolate" for pregnant woman.
Seriously, think about it. Many women have cravings and I am quite sure that most of those cravings are not good....too much sodium, too much sugar, etc. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I think the egg thing is due to the risk of listeriosis that could be cause by bacteria in the egg and is harmful to the baby. They say it's fine if it's either well done or pasturised eggs. And we're not supposed to have mayo because of the egg risk, but that's only fresh mayo - the store bought stuff is ok. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I've just been avoiding the main one's i've heard about.
- Runny Eggs
- Soft Cheese's (which i hate anyway)
- Homemade Mayonaise (who eats that neway?)
- Raw meat (Euw)
But i've had peanuts, because i think you only have too avoid if someone in the family has a nut allergy, which there isn't. I didn't have too much though. And i drink tea/coffee everyday. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I don't understand the pepperoni one.........especially if it's on a pizza, as it's cooked on the pizza which should destroy any bacteria that may be on it right? As for deli meats I usually just heat mine up a bit to kill off any bacteria and eaten it that way (usually on a grilled ham and cheese sandwich ) |

I'm Currently Feeling: | i think they do go a bit OTT with the guidelines sometimes- theres always something new. in the paper today it said that being on ur mobile for 2/3 times a day significantly increases the risk of behavioural problems in ur child. | | | | Status: Offline
