Does anyone else think its weird that NOBODY has mentioned getting tests for downs, cystic fibrosis, spina bifidah, nothing!? Everyone on the first trimester fourm has been getting all these tests and scans and I don't get one until 18 weeks!? Nobody has even suggested that I get blood work done for anything. I haven't been told my hcg levels like everyone else, nobody told me what the baby's heart rate was when we found it. I have NO idea if I'm rh- or +. I feel like I'm being totally neglected!! What if I'm further along and we don't find out until I'm 18 weeks and we miss something important!?

All that's been happening at my appointments is the dr asked me what I'm eating, if I'm having bad morning sickness, and checking how much weight I've gained (1 1/2 lbs). That's the ONLY thing I've been told. And I'm supposed to be going to the BEST ob-gyn in the province!?


ARG I'm so mad!!! I don't feel like I'm being taken care of properly!

im sorry babe. I haven't heard too many good things about canadian health system, other than it's free medical there...and honestly, that could be why? your particular hospital may just be like...get the patient in, get the patient out, repeat.

Sorry you're frustrated . If it's any comfort, i have not even seen a doctor yet, i'm still waiting on a referral from my hospital (they said "you can call in a few days or wait 7-10 for it to come in the mail!) I'll be damn near 9 weeks before i even get seen! Considering i found out my good news at 4 weeks...that's 5 weeks i sat around at home waiting!

I do hope things get better for you. Is there any other hospital you can go to, or a private scan you can snag? try calling them and asking them specifically for HCG results etc? good luck, lovely.

That's odd that they haven't mentioned the triple testing yet. My first appointment at 4.5 weeks my GP asked me if I was going to have it done (we turned it down) but it does have to be done within a certain time frame. If I were you I'd call the doctors office until I got some answers. Sorry you aren't getting the care you deserve

I can't get in to see my dr until May 30th

I am switching because I moved from one side of the province to another, but I've heard the dr's here are even more shit than the ones in St. John's. They won't even tell you the sex of the baby here

Won't it be too late by then to do a lot of the tests? I mean, I'm going to be 13 1/2 weeks by then, and I'm ONLY getting in to see my GP so he can refer me to an ob-gyn.

i dont get offered the triple test till 15weeks and ive neer had my hcg levels done, take it easy women have been having babys forever without doctors...

I didn't get my downs test etc until i was over 15weeks...But not sure how it works everywhere else...Just wanted to give you xxx

I don't mind if they don't offer until 15 weeks. I DO believe though that another girl here who lives RELATIVELY close to me (Percilla correct me if I'm wrong), has already gotten a bunch of tests done and she's a week behind me. But someone could have at least told me what it was and what its about and when/if I could expect to get it done. I'm just being completely left in the dark to figure it all out from other people, and not my doctor, who I SHOULD be hearing it from.

I didn't see an OB until 13 weeks BUT my GP saw me a couple of times prior and informed me of all the tests, she did the bloodwork, and a physical on me. The healthcare varies so much from city to city here!
