i no we dont live in the same contry...but on my first appointment with which was wen i was about 11 odd weeks and i went away with blood things that i had to go get done....so got them on 11+5 then i had my nucheal scan where they do another set of tests for downs etc. but i have no cluent as to what im waiting or doing now i think i might call n see when i seeing sum1 next or sumthing....if its any concelation i havent been told my hcg levels or heart rate.....but surely if u have been told ur hcg levels u must of had a blood test at some stage?? xx

I had a blood test but it just checked to see if I had my rubella shots and whatever other immunization you get when you're little.

hi hun, tbh it sounds fairly routine for your stage of pregnancy. here we have major bloods taken at around 16wks, checkig for CF etc. if your really stressing can you go private??(unsure of the medical service there)

did you actually ask about these tests?? if not then ask the docs arnt mind readers and cant give you the right info if you dont tell them what your looking for

Rae- Ive told you this before, and I will say it again. There is nothing stopping you from phoning your doctor up and asking about tests and things... In fact, it is your right to ask about them.

I know it is frustrating that you have not gotten and scan etc... I would be too.. I dont know what the healthcare is like in NS though. I didnt get my downs test mentioned until 13weeks, they gave me a paper and 2 days later I got the blood drawn. I wont know ther results until next week when im 16weeks.

The downs test is most accurate when done around 13weeks.

I havent been told any of that either, but then i guess if i asked would be different. I went for my 16week appointment with midwife and she then took bloods for the tests, they found the hb and they didnt tell me the rate or anything ( i dont know if they do this early on? ) I'm not bothered it sounded good to me. I looked at my notes and on my first apointment i had really low blood pressure and now im bordering on high and they didnt say anything, but i feel fine and they would say something if there was a problem, i'd hope so i think most places are shit unless you go private

Also in didnt get told about the tests until my ultrasound, but i could have asked at any time and they arent going to refuse to answer you!!

I didn't get told about my tests until I was at my 12 week scan. I booked my 16 week app with my GP and he took my bloods. I don't know what my HGC levels were or are. Nor have I been told the babies heart beat...

Pretty much all I know is that I'm pregnant lol.

I had bloods taken last week...but i dunno if i will find out results or not. Unless there is something wrong...if i do it won't be till 13 weeks.

The test for downs I was given a booklet on and told I wouldnt have it till 15/16 weeks and to let midwife know at my next appoint at 13 weeks! I'm not having it anyway i don't think

I'm not really stressing I'm just pissed. I'm asking my doctor about the tests, and I'm demanding a scan and more information about what is going on with me. I guess I just haven't been demanding enough and they think its alright to just not mention things to me or something. We'll see. I was talking to another girl who had a baby in August that lives here and the dr's never did that testing on her either, and just left her in the dark her entire pregnancy. She had no idea what to expect, she was like me, trying to figure it all out from other people. She had to practically "threaten" her doctor (her words, not mine) to get some answers out of her. Our healthcare system just sucks.

Another thing I'm MAINLY pissed about is that I think I'm further along and nobody seems to believe me. I'm huge and neither I nor my boyfriend can figure out how exactly it was that I got pregnant in March because of the timing of everything. I had a super early, strong pregnancy test, and in Feb. we had a HUGE scare and I was pretty much floored that my period started. We're assuming we must have majorly miscalculated something and bd'd about 5 days beforehand by accident, but I don't think so. That's mostly why I'm pissed, because they still aren't willing to even give me a dating scan or check anything out until 18 weeks. I think its a bit much. Wait till May 30th, I'm going to be demanding a LOT of answers.

Hon, is Newfoundland like BC where you only get one scan and it's at 20 weeks?
I wasn't sure about my dating and I still had to wait until my 20 week scan.

I turned down an amnio test and was supposed to go for my triple test. I was given the papers to do so at my 16th week but was told to go and do it after a few weeks.

Well, I got busy and missed doing it and when I went to my gynecologist he said that I can't do it at that time as I was over 20 weeks. I believe it has to be done within a certain time frame - 18-20 weeks.
