I'm Currently Feeling: | I paid for the NT scan. Like Rach321 I am 33 now, 34 at the birth.
My bubs cooperated - she was basically asleep!!! But she was in the right position. They couldnt get her nasal bone though which is also taken in to account. They didnt ask me back for that as they got the NT measurement.
At least you'll get to see bubs again!!! Dont forget to ask if they can see what sex it is if you plan on finding out. A good sonographer can tell and mine said she was faily sure she was a girl and my recent scan showed she was right!!

I'm Currently Feeling: | The NT Scan that I will be doing in 2 weeks is putting me in panic state.
I havent sleept all night thinking about this.
Does the doc tell u to do it bec there might be something wrong? bec the previous u/s wasnt ok? because of my miscarriage history?
Or could it be a regular step everyone goes thru with him?
I am only 26 yrs old and i have no relative that has any down syndrome.
I AM SCARED!!!!!!!!! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Had my second scan today and baby was in right position hooray !!
Everything was fine - all measurements ok - had grown 3 mm since tuesday! Also got blood results back and risk was put at 1 in 7000 which is pretty good fro my age so I'm happy with that !
The test is nothing to worry about, I have a cousin who is severely mentally handicapped so I just wanted to be sure that everything was ok - you never know ??!!
Next scan now isn't until 20 weeks so its a long wait but midwife will be listening to heartbeat at my 16week appointment. Now all I need is a bump - still no sign of one yet, just look like I've eaten too much and I'm 12 weeks tomorrow!

It has absolutely nothing to do with your history - Downs is genetic and not based on anything thats happened before. It just occurs for no reason. Its still very rare. If you get NT screnning for free then take it is my advice and see it as an opportunity to see your LO again.
STOP PANICING AND TRY TO ENJOY IT SUZAN!!!

Rach xx | 1:7000 is brilliant - thats classed as negative. I was 1:5800 and thats a negative so you've smashed that!!
Great news Rach.

Hope that answers all your questions
Oopps - forgot to say that I am just coming up to 12 weeks - the NT scan can be done between 11 and 13 weeks.
Rach xx | I'm really surprised by how the different PCT differ on what they do and don't offer on the NHS. I'm 29 and i'm getting the NT scan and blood test done for free. Sucks that you are having to pay. | | | | Status: Offline

x | I will do it. I called my doc's nurse and she laughed at me telling me that its a MUST for all patients to do it, even if she is 15 up to 50, they need to do it. It's a routine process.
Anyway, I will do it. I know I am a coward, what can I do? the 2 miscarriages made me like that. But I have faith, and I am sure everything will be okay |
