I'm Currently Feeling:

Are they looking after me properly?

Hi ya girls,
I just need some advice. At 6 weeks I went to the doc to tell her I'm preggo. I chose a hospital and they sent me a letter for a booking in date. I had an appointment last week with my doc and she checked blood pressure and tummy. I am turning 11 weeks this week and I haven't seen the m/w so I haven't got any pregnancy books, check-up book or bounty pack. I don't have a date for a scan either. I made an appointment to see the m/w today off my own back because I feel like more should have been done for me by now. Am I right is there more meant to be done? I'm not sure but I'm finding this pregnancy a real roller coaster ride with emotions so far and I just want to feel like they are looking after me. What should have happened by now?

I had to make my own appointment with the midwife even though they had said they'd refered me. They're useless.

Well i had my booking app at 8 weeks and had bloods taken at 12 weeks then scan at 12+3. I'm sure you should have received a letter for the scan by now at least!!! And i'm almost positive that you should've had your booking app so that you can get your record to take to the scan. Yours docs seem a bit lame or maybe too busy??!! Either way, they should be getting you sorted out by now.

My doctors wouldn't see me until 8 weeks and then they gave me the midwife's number and told me to call her. She has arranged to come to my house this afternoon. I'm 9+1 today. I'm getting blood and urine tests done next week at my docs and after that i don't know.

If you have picked a hospital i would call their scan dept and ask if they have received your referral and explain that you havent had a date. Thats what I did to get mine through.

Thanx for the replies it's s a good thing I got a m/w appointment today I only made it yesterday and it was just luck I got an appointment as she gets booked up quite quickly apparently. Hopefully things will get sorted out. I suppose looking at all your different experiences sometimes you have to take control of things yourself.

I had to make my own midwife appointment (& I'll have to sort the next one at 16 weeks myself too) & had the booking in appointment at 10 weeks. I'm now 12 weeks + 3 days & haven't had my 12 week scan letter through the post yet. My midwife told me to ring the hospital if it's not here by the end of the week. I shouldn't have to chase up things like that.. scans are important!

Our OBYGYN's here often wont see you until you are 13weeks.

I had a dating scan at 8weeks and had to wait until 13weeks to meet my OBGYN. The health center that booked my dating scan gave me information. You dont have to wait for anyone to give you anything, if you want pregnancy pamphlets and such ask for it.

When I met my OBGYN she gave me the forms etc to take to the hospital, I got my blood work for downs etc.

My OBGYN sees me once a month. I had bloodwork done at 6 weeks, and I have to get more done soon. The office booked my scan for me. When I go see her I just go to the desk and ask for an appointment in 4 weeks.
