I'm Currently Feeling: | How dangerous is this? Hi all,
My first appointment isn't till next week and I am incredibly worried about some advice I was given.
My hobby is genealogy and through that I have come into contact with a distant cousin who's researching the same tree, and she's a retired midwife. I thought since my appointment isn't for a week, I thought I would email her some questions. I told her about my irregular periods prior to getting pregnant and she made out like it was a very serious problem, so now I'm panicking!
Basically I came of the pill about a year ago, and for a long time, I didn't have a proper period, just occasional dark discharge and short periods of blood (no longer than a day).
From the end of March to the beginning of April (approx) I had a full blown period, cramps and all, which lasted nearly 2 weeks. Sometime between then and now I have fallen pregnant.
My periods were irregular before I went on the pill, so I just figured it wasn't that big a deal, and they would become more regular in time. Could this have serious implications for the pregnancy? I'm scared that something is wrong.

I'm Currently Feeling: | I wouldn't worry about it. I know loads of people with irregular cycles that have had perfectly healthy babies. Ask about it at your appointment, I'm sure they'll give you good advice. Until then, worrying does more harm than good as there is nothing you can do to change the situation. Easier said than done I know | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Don't worry about it. It wouldn't have any serious complications! Only confusing thing would be working out the due date without a scan! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | How could this relation of yours imply that it could be serious that your irregular periods cause some sort of damage to your bean? I would say the only thing that it could cause concern about is your due date. I would go back to this relation and say she has now made you really worried/scared and what exactly does she mean about serious implications? | | | | Status: Offline
