Im getting it done...I have to because there is history of spina bifida in my husbands family. Usually I think older women get it (I think 35 and older and also young women under 35 at risk) but dont quote me on that as I dont have my paper right in front of me that says it. lol
Ya down here in canada I would assume, if you told them you wanted it they would likely do it no matter how old you are so 35 and up likely isnt the only age but thats what it said in my papers when they usually do it... it might be a little different in the UK anyways but I dunno.
I was offered it, but it's about £175 & I just don't have the money to pay for that. I'm not in a high risk category age-wise or family history-wise.. so I'm just crossing my fingers that everything is ok.
It prob is routine for his practice to do those scans. But if you don't want it, don't get it done. I would just to be on the safe side just to ease my own mind.
