Doppler

OK I'm starting to think I'm using the damn thing wrong.. I can't find LO's heartbeat no matter how hard I try!

I put it just above my pubic bone pointing down behind it, & I move it soooo slowly across in one direction, changing the angle as I go, then back to the centre, & then across the other way. All I get is my heartbeat & whooshy noises.

Is there something else I should be doing?

I think my baby's shy!

BTW I thought I'd just add, I don't have an angelsounds one, I have a regular doppler like midwives use. I'm starting to think I should have got the angelsounds one though.. people seem to have had a lot of success with them round here!

Try not angling down, I can pick up mine about 2 inches above the pubic bone and left a bit, straight on.

Also are you sure it's your heartbeat? The LO's is quieter but faster. Have you tried checking your own heatbeat, someone suggested trying to hold your pulse - although its hard to do that and hold the device.

Yeah I'm positive it's my own heartbeat, I check my pulse & it's always the same rhythm.. plus my doppler displays the heartrate & it's never above 100. I remember very clearly what baby heartbeats sound like, I heard my daughter's a lot at the end of my pregnancy because I was monitored.. I just wanna hear this one's!

I try to do it with a full bladder (no matter how uncomfortable it is!) but I guess my LO is just a little monkey already

I was looking by my pubic bone for ages but found the heart beat about 2 inches up and to the left the same as Ria. Try going in straigh lines left to right moving up at the end of each go. It may be higher than you think. Mine is soooo close to my heartbeat that sometimes is difficult to hear, remember though there are probably about 5 points you will hear your heartbeat most of which are arterys. Stick with it im sure you will find it.
