*does a happy dance*

Woooooow, it's been so long time in coming. And it's also my OH's Birthday, so he's really excited too.

This is my first scan, and first trip to the hospital for the Baby. I've picked up some tips from all the other people's threads who've been recently. I know I need to drink 1.5 liters of water before I go - I think that's going to make me reaaaalllly want to wee, esp if they puch hard on my belly. lol.

But I thought I'd post and ask you guys for your advice.

Also what is the general format of the afternoon, or at least what happened on your visit. And what Information do i need to take?

I just know I'll be so excited that I might get to see the LO, I might not concentrate on the important factual bits, lol, so I thought I'd better be prepared.

Not quite sure how they do it as ive only had a non pregnancy ultrasound but wanted to wish you good luck for weds hunni

Don't worry about drinking too much.. some hospitals tell you you don't need to drink water beforehand (like my sister's did) & other's do (like mine). I drank about a pint, maybe less, at my 8 week scan.. & we could see baby very clearly

As far as I'm aware you just take your antenatal notes & give them to the receptionist when you get there. You might need to buy a token for ultrasound photos from a little machine beforehand (depending on how the hospital's system works.. mine was like that) if you want them.. otherwise just ask someone about buying them. I got 2 pictures for £3.50, but prices will probably vary (unless your hospital is awesome & give you them for free)

I'm in Canada so it's probably a bit different but for my scan the doctor had sent some forms to the clinic (I had the scan done at a different location than my doctors office) for the tech to fill out.

I had to drink so much it hurt to walk !
I sign into the hospital then get sent to a waiting room for 30-45 mins then seen by a midwife and asked a few questions about how I've been etc, then get sent to another waiting room for 15-30 mins then get called in. Only in the scanning room for about 5 mins, they find the baby and look for the heart beat and check the baby. Then check the ovaries etc, to check there's no cysts, etc. My scans pics cost £5 each but you get 1 for free, I have to get 3. 1 for me and OH, then one each for each set of our parents!
