Hi,
I only found out I was pregnant today, and I'm a bit worried because I have drunk alcohol 3 times over the last 3 weeks or so.
I'm not sure how far along I am because my periods are irregular but my last period was approx 5 or 6 weeks ago.
I'm obviously going to get a doctor's apointment first thing on Monday morning, but in the meantime, can anyone tell me what damage the alcohol might have done? I'm really fretting about it.
I'm 23 and it's the first time I have been pregnant.
Thanks
MrsS
Don't worry love, there are many of us who found ourselves in the same situation. I drank the weekend before I found I was pregnant and my baby is just fine. It is so early in your pregnancy, that the baby gets very little from you, and your body is very good a protecting it. I know it is hard not to worry, but do try not to.
Thanks for the reply,
You've put my mind at ease a bit. It just feels like 'I can't believe I messed up so early into motherhood'. I know I'm probably being hard on myself, but I just want to do it all right!
I've never felt such a strange mixture of joy, fear, shock, energy and excitement.
I am sure the baby is fine hun.
When I was preg with my first I was only young and didn't know I was preg and I drunk loads and had a Healthy baby girl.

You are not alone hun most women feel the same.
I am 23 and I am having my 3rd.
yh try not to worry too much about it. think of all the uplanned pregnancies tht there are and how many of those women have gone out on the weekends and got paraletic not knowing that they are pregnant, but still turn out to have healthy kids x
I went out for my friends birthday, two days before I found out, and not very proud to say it but I was hammered!! havent drunk since, and plenty of people say its fine coz the bubba was so teeny and wont have noticed!!
Don't worry about the alcohol. A lot of women drink before they find out (remember some women don't find out that they are pregnant until they give birth - if they have periods).
The chances are you are quite early on, and for the first 6 weeks at least the baby is quite self contained, it is only later when the placenta starts being used that the baby has access to your blood stream.
So stop panicking. And congratulations.
