Angry

I didn't know being pregnant was a crime!

People are so stupid and insenstive sometimes!!

I just told one of my friends that I'm pregnant and he went off on a whole spiel about how I'm too young, I'm only 20, I'm not ready to look after a baby yet, I haven't experienced life yet, I'm stupid for not aborting the baby, and that I'm not mature enough to take care of the baby. WHO EXACTLY DOES HE THINK HE IS!?

I am a RESPONSIBLE, mature person who is finishing my post-secondary education, have experienced enough of the party scene for my liking, and have no freakin quams about being pregnant whatsoever. I am going to love this baby like nothing else IN this world and I don't know why the hell people have to put in their two damn cents worth. Why the hell would anyone want to attack a pregnant woman like that? Where exactly do people get off thinking that just because we're pregnant people can say shit like that to us, tell us we're huge, tell us "good luck with that", and look at us like they pity us?

When the frig did having a child become a crime!?!? Its like all sense and tact goes out the friggen door as soon as your bump shows!

Sadly, one of the lesser documented symptoms of pregnancy and becoming a new parent is that your circle of friends changes. I'm sorry he was so negative to you. Maybe he is jealous? Or just has an intellectual chip on his shoulder in general? Can you tell him how you feel or is it not that sort of friendship?

I've found that too, and sadly it only gets worse. But your real friends stick around.

You likely are too young.

However, you are having a baby and you want it. So thats all that matters now.

I believe your friend is likely meaning that you arn't exactly at the right place in your life at the moment for a baby. You dont have a job, you arn't with the right person, your still doing school.

Sometimes people do just really show general concern. But Shri is right, your circle of friends is going to change, because you ARE 20... Your circle of friends are not all getting married and having babies right now.

Im afraid you are setting up for a hard go with the baby and what is going on with your boyfriend. I am not saying that you wont love the baby any less, but custody things and his family are now a part of your life until the baby grows up.

Im sorry hun, but having a baby means alot of life changes. One being your hormones! LOL, you just need to try and let things not stress you.

i found that a lot of times when telling friends, they assume we are at the same point in life as them lol. kwim? like THEY are not ready for a child, THEY don't feel they are responsible enough or ready for a child and therefore, you can't possibly be ready yourself!

Just do what you're doing, hun, you're doing great and your baby will be loved and well taken care of!
