Birthing Ideas

I know its still really early but I just wondered what everyones view was on giving birth...?

I have been talking about this loads to my Oh recently and we have decided (if alls well) to opt for a water birth at home. Was really unsure about the idea at first but the more and more i think about it the more I think its the right decision.

Anyone else having a home birth or have any opinions to share?

I think I am just going to do a hospital natural birth but then again once all my options are given to me I may change my mind.

I Want Mine In Hospital. It's The Only Place I'll Feel Safe (if anything goes wrong) And I Definately Would Like An Epidural. I Went Too My Sisters Birth And Watched My Mum Have Her, And It Seemed Really Good. It Is My First So I Don't Know What The Pain Is Going To Be Like, So I Want A Easy Birth With Alot Of Pain Relief. (Im a wimp)

My Hubbie insisted that i should be in the hospital because he wants me to already be there incase anything goes wrong. The more i think about it the more i agree with him. Although everything should be fine, when things do go wrong minutes count. So i'll be at the local Maternity unit to give birth.

Definitely a hospital birth and I think I'd like a pool for labour at the minute I'm leaning towards a natural birth with just gas and air for pain relief.

In an ideal world a home birth would be great but realistically for me i think its more than likely going to be a hospital birth

Am i all alone on this one...Molly did I read somewhere you wanted one??

I understand the idea of 'what if' but I have been thinking about how anxious and stresed hospitals make me anyway let alone when I am in labour! Each to their own and I may change my mind but im really looking forward to being at home with my own things around me and to be as relaxed as I can be. Not sure my mum is going to agree with me on this one though!

Carries, if you do a search you will find several threads on homebirth. I am planning a home birth in a few weeks. Do you your research and see if it is the right option for you. As for me, I would not choose any other way. Homebirths are safe, and I have a wonderful midwife, and a great team who will be fantastic in supporting me during my labor. I am really looking forward to it.

I'll be doing a homebirth as well - still undecided about the water birth part. If something does go wrong I am not very far from a hospital and midwives generally can catch complications quicker than a doctor can. I also figure that being at home is much less stressful than a hospital.

I still haven't told my mother and I have no idea how to.
