Aww my OH wants to come with me to mine

I had blood taken at my first appointment ,a urine sample all my notes and paper work and then she booked my scan

I had
- some intitial paperwork done
- bloods taken
- blood pressure taken
- asked if I want tests for HIV HEP B Rubella etc
- family ethnicity taken
- pregnancy problems recorded
- BMI calculated
- weight recorded
- urine sample taken (but i didn't need to pee so thats being done next time)
- abdominal poking and prodding
- doppler test to see if the HB could be found (mine couldn't)
- phone numbers given me
- dating scan booked
- number of EPU given to me to book my early scan (which I didn't do )
- next appoint made to do paperwork thoughally which took from 12:30 - 1:50 at my house a few sundays ago
- general outline of what to expect
- what foods and things to avoid
- leaflets given

I think that was everything lol

I had mine last night .. loads of paper work and booklets .. but she was really nice .. she was there for about 1hour 45mins hahaha !!

Just thought i would give you a report of how my first appointment went. It wasn't with a midwife like i was told, it was with a Medical Assistant. They gave me the phone number of two community midwives which i need to call to arrange a time for them to come to my house.
What they did today was fill in loads of paperwork, take my blood pressure, test my urine for protein and glucose, arrange an appointment for me to go back in two weeks for a blood test. When i get a moment (came back to work to WW3, can't believe they can't manage two hours without me!!!), i am going to go outside and try and call the midwives to make an appointment.

wow lots of stuf...can't beleive it takes so long. I feel a bit hard done to haha I was told mine would be no longer than half an hour hmmm and I have to go to the doctors surgery

Don't feel hard done by. My appointment was at the doctors surgery and took about 30 mins. Not sure how long the appoitment with the midwife will be as alot of the paperwork has already been done.

although some appts sound way to long so half hour might be better haha

Just called the Midwife, she sounded very nice on the phone. She is going to visit me at home Tuesday afternoon at 3.
It's all starting to sink in more now that i am starting to see medical professionals and have tests.
