I'm Currently Feeling: | Private gender scan Well, being the impatient woman that I am, I'm looking into having a private scan done at about 18 weeks to find out what I'm having! Trouble is, OH thinks it's not worth the money I know I'll get a chance to find out at the 20 week scan, but I don't like the way most NHS scans are done.. you don't get to spend very long looking at the baby & some midwives are really snotty about checking whether it's a boy or girl.
I guess I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if a private scan really is worth the money.. I'd only be getting a 2D one because I can't really afford a 3D one, but I'd still get to see my baby. I'm going to try & convince my OH about this.. I'm on a mission now! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | My DH wants to get one done at 16 weeks because he doesn't want to wait until the 20 week scan!! I really don't want to wait either but hear in the US I don't know if I could find someone to do it at 16 weeks. If I can find someone we will definately be getting one so we can find out sooner!! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I paid £75 yesterday (16+5) for a private 3D gender scan including CD-ROM of the images. The tech was lovely. She took her time and went straight to find out the sex. After she'd established she was a little girl she spent lots of time showing us everything else and getting some really great images. Towards the end (it was a 20 min slot) she went back to confirm she was definately a girl - at this stage its 95% accurate but she was very sure there were no boy bits!!
I think it was totally worth the money and if you have it done at about 16 weeks then you'll still have at least 4 weeks to the 20 week scan - mine wont be until I'm almost 22 weeks.
The other advantage with the one I had was if baby is being shy and they cant tell, you go back in 2 weeks and they do it again for free.
Do you have a birthday or anniversary coming up??? Maybe you could ask people to chip in for a present for you???

I'm Currently Feeling: | I had mine done here... But as I as 23 weeks I added loads of extras like 4D and DVD n stuff but it looks like the Gender scan costs £75. It was a nice clean place and the staff were all very friendly. It's right by Brent Cross shopping centre if anyone is close by. xXx http://thehendonclinic.com/gender.html |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I paid £80 for a 2d genderscan at 18 weeks, but they told me it was 75% girl. I went back at 20 weeks and told 80% girl. I went back at 22 weeks and told 99.9% girl. And I wasn't charged any extra. But it was lovely to see baby and more personal. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | i would def say get one done if you can afford it, i was te same as you and very impatient, my scan was booked at 22 weeks with the nhs so i decided to go for a private sexing scan in solihull..i think it was £80 but i cant remember now...it was so worth while (i was 17 + 3) and quite clearly saw the boy parts, we had about 20 minutes and came home with a dvd and 4 photos, she went thorugh everything else aswell as the gender. When i went for my 22 week scan with the nhs it wasnt very good at all, he was in a very awkward position and we couldnt even get any pictures, so i was so grateful to have had the private one done!
