I took folic acid tablets up to 12 weeks. I've got prenatal vitamins now that also have some folic acid in amongst other things.

I take a daily prenatal vitamin that has folic acid in it, but I also take an iron supplement, that has a bit in it too... I have never heard of not taking it during the whole pregnancy... but it may be different over here.

I'm taking a prenatal + folic acid. I'm planning on taking it the whole pregnancy, I've never heard anything different either. Maybe its just the way we do it here in Canada?

the main benefits of folic acid are the prevention of spinal bifida which only prevents in 1st trimester, however it is a good idea to take a supplement which contains it throughout you pregnancy and breastfeeding as it is very good for your bowls!

I'm taking pregnacare, which is designed to take all the way through pregnancy, until you've stopped breastfeeding. It has everything in it you could possibly need, including folic acid!!
