how big are the chances?

I was just wondering.. my last scan was at 9+ weeks and everything was fine, HB was strong and baby was moving but how big are the chances that something may still go wrong.. I'm just so afraid, because I never had much symptoms and now I have even less symptoms, that's why I never know if everything is ok.

I know that that the risks dramatically reduce once there is a heartbeat - can't remember the actual statistics though. As foir your symptoms, mine had more or less gone by my 12 week scan. Now I just have a faint bit of heartburn and the odd wave of nausea. Nothing to worry about hon! Are you having a 12 week scan?

I'm sure you'll be fine. Seeing the HB is a great sign! Are you still getting a 12wk scan?

Still not had a scan, my first one is in two weeks time (I'll be 13 weeks) so very anxious.

I know the risk reduces as each week passes, I know somewhere between week 10 and 13 the risk reduces to 3% - or I think the book I read said a 97% chance that you will take hom a happy healthy baby at the end of it all. Sorry can't remember the exact week. But then that's just statistics.

I don't get a scan until 18 weeks. So I'm really freaked out because how do I know that there isn't just a sac with no baby in it? If I have to go until week 18 and theres something like that wrong, I'm sueing my doctor haha.

But hearing the heartbeat cuts the risk of miscarriage in half, I believe.

Hi Maryunna!

There is always a risk in pregnancy, but it falls dramatically once you see a heartbeat from 8 weeks onwards. When you reach 12 weeks it is about 1%. Also, due to HCG levels levelling off and the gradually declining (as the placenta takes over), your symptoms will start to reduce from about 10 weeks onwards. Morning sickness and things like that will have gone for most women by about 12 weeks.

I am sure everything is going just fine.

xxx

There are still chances, and that's the truth. I lost my two last pregnancies after seeing the heartbeat. But you can not worry what if!

When you hear a heatbeat after 8 weeks the chances things will be ok are increased to 95% I believe. Also once you get to around 9 - 11 weeks the placenta starts taking over the hormone production rather than your body, hence your symptoms will not be as great as they were before. I thinkeerything sounds great from the info you've given good luck
