Posts: 385 | Hi Sophie, no you're not alone  Once I got my bfp I said to my hubby that the next set of 3/4 magpies we see will be the gender of our baby. The next time we were out I saw 3. And usually I normally see the dreaded 1 or 2. So I took it as a sign  Wonder if our feathered friends will prove to be right |

Posts: 385 | They're these black and white brids - part of the crow family that have this mad squack and are very common in Ireland, and I am guessing the UK too. They are known to like shiny things. There is a superstion that goes: 1 for sorrow 2 for joy 3 for a girl 4 for a boy 6 for silver 7 for gold 8 for a secret never to be told. If I see one magpie you can wave at it to get rid of the bad luck, or we used to bless ourselves. All sounds a bit weird, but it's just a fun superstition  |
