will they give an early scan? worried about eptopic.

When I set up my appointment the woman on the phone was so heavy about being careful to look for eptopic signs that I feel like I might be being paranoid. However, I definitely have sharp and frequent pains (5 times a day, more sharp if I'm doing something strenuous) in my left ovary area. I am sure it is either eptopic or a cyst because I don't have any other general cramping, it's specific to this area.

I know the doctor doesn't usually scan before 8 weeks. I'm going in tomorrow at 7 weeks 2 days with this one symptom coupled with as one lady put it "bone deep night of the living dead exhaustion) which manifests with faintness and dizzyness sometimes.

think i can convince them to do an early scan?

For your sake I hope they do. Put a real emphasis on the pain. I'm all for exagerating things when it comes to worries of ectopic, considering it certainly won't hurt. With mine, I was repeatedly told that I need to calm down and relax and because of that attitude I lost a tube. I have to get early scans everytime I get pregnant now, but my doctor moved mine up and I won't get it til 6 weeks, and now I'm freaking out.

I get those charlie horse type of pains (and have with my other pregnancies too) where if I get up too fast it will happen. That is normal, I was told. Is it worse than that?

Kimini,
wow! thanks for telling me. I was thinking I should exaggerate too. I know they think we're all just paranoid but the pain is not my exaggeration. did you have bleeding with yours? i read that it is more likely a cyst if i'm not bleeding and i'm not.
i'm very sorry about your complications. this site reminds me how blessed we are to have a successful pregnancy. I'll say a little prayer for you now. Glad to see you're pregnant again

mscorribaby,
the intensity of the pain seems normal for sure... but the location is so very specific to my left ovary area... very specific. when i get the sharp pains they are tolerable yes, but always right there in the exact same spot. I find it hurts more when i bend over and hurts for a longer period of time. i'm praying just a cyst, but I know it's something... i have no cramping elsewhere. beautiful picture by the way

If I had to guess I'd say its a cyst. As for suing, I thought about it, but in the end I was too drugged up and later seriously depressed to care. Who new you could have postpartum depression from such an early stage?
I had bleeding that started at 4w6d with my ectopic and it carried on until I had surgery at 6w6d. But at about 6w3d I was in hell with the pain and called into work and everything. Odd thing is, they did a vag. ultrasound at 4w6d, and saw nothing, hcg was 1300 something, didn't do anymore u/s but did more blood work, hcg stayed at about 1400 for another week, and they still weren't worried. Did another scan at 6w4d and still saw nothing. Blood work at 6w6d showed hcg at 3000 and emergency scan (they literally called and told me to come in immediately) showed internal bleeding and still no baby. So about 2 hours after that ultrasound I was being looked after by some very sympathetic females (not a single man in the room) being given large doses of everything to calm me down and they took my angel from me. I don't remember much about that day, but the first thing I asked was "did they have to take the tube?" They said yes and I told them I was going to throw up.

So I really think you're probly ok, but I still wouldn't risk it. Some people say ectopics don't hurt until they rupture, but mine hadn't ruptured and it hurt very very bad. It was probably the busted blood vessels leaking into my diaphragm causing the pain, but again, I didn't have the classic shoulder pain. So when in doubt: lie, exaggerate, sneak around and get second opinions, but don't let anyone tell you you are just a paranoid preggy woman. My doctor's office actually tried to refuse letting me get bloodwork done at the hospital where it was quicker. I yelled at the nurse who told me no, and probly cussed at her too, lol.

yea, the more i read the more i find that they are usually hellish feeling and though i have strange pains and incredible light headedness from time to time, i'm not suffering as you were... i'm so sorry again and again for your loss and i'm looking forward to learning more as you go. i was reading on another forum that so many women carried h&h even after many problems with ectopic pregnancies. i hope yours is the same.

I just realized you are in florida. My sister-in-law and I were just moaning about being pregnant through summer, but now I feel silly considering I won't have to deal with that heat all the time. Good luck with everything!

Definitely get it checked out, but I just wanted to mention that I had pain on my right side between 5 and 7 weeks that turned out to be nothing. Baby is in the right place, and I still have no idea what those pains were. Take your pain seriously, but I just wanted to reassure you that it can happen even when everything is fine. Let us know how everything goes
