Bit worried about anemia!!

Hey, I am 10 weeks and 5 days pregnant and have been to see a nurse today as I am so tierd (has got worse in the last week), been feeling dizzy/lightheaded and am getting very breathless at the moment like I can't get enough air. I suffer from pernious anemia (a lack of B12 and have regular injectios for it) the nurse wants me to have full blood count done, plus my b12 and folic levels checked. I'm booked into have bloods taken next week and I am just concerened that if I am iron deficent that it may have effected the baby. Have been really trying to eat healthy although its been a bit up and down as I feel so nausous in the afternoons/evenings. I am off chicken at the moment so have been eating red meat and this week have started eating kellogs corn flakes for my breakfast. Any advice would be great this is my first pregnancy and just want to do the best I can for my baby.

Try eating red meat, eggs, apricots, raisins, prunes, tinned sardines, crab, and fortified cereal. To help absorb the iron have some vitamin C. Iron is absorbed best with vitamin C. I dont think you are affecting the baby as it takes all it can from you which is making you anemic. Take care

Also, i take spa tone daily. Twice daily when i feel quite bad. It's an iron rich mineral water that comes in sachets. I just mix it with fresh orange and it's great. You can get it in Boots and they'e doing 3 for 2 at the moment.

Anemia doesn't really affect the baby only you as it's baby's fault you get it cos it's stealing all your iron lol. My mum had it with me and I was fine xxx

I have severe anemia and have to take 3 iron pills everyday on top of eating iron rich foods. Just make sure you're eating lots of iron rich foods and get your levels checked. You're baby should be just fine right now but if your iron levels don't increase then you can end up not having enough iron for the baby to make it's own blood. This is what the doctor was worried about with me because my levels were severely low. As long as it's monitored and you're doing what you can to up your levels you and baby should be just fine. You might be a little worse for wear since you'll be exhausted for a while until your levels pick up but it'll get better! I know I get so wiped out it's hard to stay awake let alone get motivated to do anything! LOL

Hope everything goes well for you!
