I KNEW I shouldn't watch One Born Every Minute....

I avoided this like the plague when TTC as I thought it would upset me but now i'm PG I thought I would see what it was like last night.....

I knew I shouldn't have watched it!! I'm squeamish and terrified of being a patient in hospital (I work on the wards of a big acute hospital too - so I know the inside track!). I haven't got my head round this part of it all yet!!

I read somewhere that you should focus on what is happening now and not think too far ahead - I think I need to do that! Focus on first trimester and getting through the first scan and what will be in 7 months will be!!!

This is my third baby and trust me by the end of your pregnancy you get so uncomfortable that you'd go through anything to get the baby out, I believe it is natures way as you are so fed up and you really do forget everything when that baby is placed in your arms.

I watched it and still cry everytime a baby is born, this will be my last baby so I am going to make the most of my pregnancy from start to finish.

xx

me too - watched it before conceived and then thought i wouldn't - but found myself watching it again last night! talk about bringing tears to your eyes - in more ways than one. I think you are right - lets take each day as it comes... :-)

I watched it last night too and have come to the decision that I am in denial about the labour! Despite watching those two women in agony I couldnt relate to it and I think I think that Im going to get a bit of cramping and then the baby will just 'pop out'!!!!!

Im sure that reality will sink in towards the end of the 9 months so Im going to enjoy my rose tinted glasses for as long as possible!!!!

I love this program and love watching how each woman copes with it all, some with power and dignity others are a bit drama queen like!! I know one thing though i am not have an epi, no one is going anywhere near my back with a needle that big!!!

Birth doesnt have to be medicalised like that. Why not consider a home birth?

I cant wait to give birth again. its an amazing, empowering rite of passage and it doesnt have to be like you see on the TV. if you are relaxed, comfortable and confident you can really get "in the zone".

I was terrified all the way through pregnancy about having the babies but it's not that bad really (I did it twice, 9 minutes apart!! lol). I'm not gonna lie - it hurts but it's a pain that you immediately forget the moment you hold your baby in your arms - you'll all be fine xx

I watched it too and cried all the way through! It made me so scared afterwards but it reassured me that all women think that they can't cope with it and then they do. Its weird but I was really set on the fact I wasn't going to have an epi, then I saw how much it helped with the pain relief and now I've changed my mind.

Do you know what labour is terrible but you dont have to think about it until the time and then the terrible bit doesn't even last for that long anyway. There's no point worrying about something everyday that can ony take a few hours. There are things you can take for the pain if you want it so it doesn't have to be completely terrible.

And its nice to be in "the club" of knowing what an amazing experience it is to give birth. My labour at the time was so horrible I remember the pain so well but I wouldn't do it any other way as its the most amazing experience of your entire life! Whats not to look forward to!

you know i really wouldnt call it terrible i mean, yes, the pain is very intense but the fact that women do it over and over again is something
