Having a hard time standing up! starting to feel quite unhappy. Is weakness normal?

Hi Ladies,
So, I was silly enough to think I was going to have a symptom free pregnancy and then six weeks came along and I'm having so much difficulty getting through the day. Another woman spoke of all day nausea and I read that and it does sound like being couch bound is pretty normal, but at the same time I feel like it's not because I'm reading that faintness and dizzy-ness are symptoms to be weary of.

I'm not being kept on the couch due to nausea. Though my appetite has lessened and I have a few rough hours every day, I haven't thrown up once and I am eating.

What has me is paralyzing weakness. Even when i stand I feel like I should just sit right back down. I want to take advice to get out in the sun and go for a walk. I've been all cooped up for two weeks and it's getting me really really down about this pregnancy. Yet, I can't seem to think when i get up that my body is not going to make it.

advice? similar stories? should i be worried? my first appointment is in two days!

I feel you..all I want to do is sit on this couch all day..I have to force myself to get up and get going. Sometimes dehydration can cause you to have a hard time standing up. Make sure you are getting enough fluids, hun. You could even try some powerade or powerade zero without all the calories if you watch that and get those electrolytes back in your system. Its so hard the 1st trimester because you don't have an appetite and then you lack the food to gain energy. Try eating smaller meals every few hours. I hope you feel better...it should ease up by the 2nd trimester. Also maybe talk to your doctor about testing you for an iron deficiency which is farely common and your dr. may put you on some extra iron

thank you. I think the drinking fluids thing may be contributing as I do have an old and bad habit of not taking in enough fluids. I will definitely pay more attention to that now and hope it helps with the strength and of course it is so important for the baby. first trimester is hard!!! I'll also ask about Iron. I think he'll check for that anyway, but if he doesn't.

I found that between 6-9wks that I would get really dizzy around noon everyday. The only thing that I found to help this was to eat meat/eggs for breakfast. A lot of people were suggesting that I had low blood sugar, but even if I ate cereal and fruit and yogurts and carbs/sugars for breakfast I would still get the dizziness and shakes by noon.
You might have a look at your diet and make sure the dizziness isn't coming on at a certain time everyday as then it could be due to what you are or aren't eating.
Protein helps you regulate your sugars/insulin as well so it could be that is why it helped me out. I still make sure to do this and am 12 +2 and no longer have the dizzy spells or shakes.
Hope ya sort it out and if it keeps up I would definitely recommend you ask your GP.

thank you. I think you're right. i'm 7 weeks and my difficult symptoms came around 5 1/2 weeks. today i had a good day but I think it's because i'm learning the ins and outs. I think the reason for my lightheaded-ness and my dizzy-ness were because i wasn't getting enough calories. it's hard to get calories when you feel sick all day. also, i'm a vegetarian, don't eat eggs either (part of my religion) so i need to take extra care to get protein and I underestimated how important getting those calories is. so now i'm mastering what it is i can keep down, and eating as much of it as a i can with some intentional proteins in there. seems to be helping, still exhausted though.
i see my doctor tomorrow and gonna let him know how bad it was for a few days and what i can do to increase energy. i know we're all tired, but i have a hard time just doing regular things around the house.
mucho gracias xoxoxo
