Confused and Upset (bit long winded)

I've been tossed back and forth between doctors (all male!), so maybe you guys who are actually all going through this can give some advice.

I've had cramps through my whole pregnancy. Now I know from the books, and what people have said on here, and from the docs that this is normal. Everything stretching and such. However about 12 days ago these got severe. I was waking in the middle of the night in a lot of pain, drenched in sweat, etc. So my GP sent me to hospital where they scanned me and said there was a high chance I was ectopic, but they weren't sure.

So my husband and I prepared for the worst and I went into surgery. I was told that if I wasn't ectopic they'd be a small chance of miscarriage. (I've had one previous miscarriage)

I woke from the op and had a very violent reaction to the anesthetic. I had seizures for quite awhile until all the drugs left my system. They said I might be more at risk of miscarriage due to the reaction, but there was no way of telling.

It turned out that everything looked normal, but they had to monitor me for a couple of days and check my hormone levels to make sure everything was ok. I was discharged on the 19th of April with hormone levels of 18,000.

On the 24th of April I started bleeding heavily for a day, then it stopped. I've had spotting since then. The blood was all brown, not red like my last miscarriage so I don't know if it's the same. The day before, and the day of the bleeding I had very bad, sharp pains.

I saw my GP and rang the hospital on Friday, so I'm seeing GP again first thing on Monday and having a scan on Thursday. I'm still having constant pains that don't stop, but they aren't as bad as they were and there's only been a bit of spotting since. I'm still getting bad morning sickness and other symptoms, though my GP said that if I am miscarrying then the hormone levels will still be high.

I'm really scared about my scan on Thursday and I'll be on my own as DH is posted away at the minute.

I'm just really confused by everything and everything I'm being told. I know that no one here will have an answer to what's going on but I just thought this was the best place to pour everything out seeing as everyone here is going through various pregnancies.

Thanks hun.

Does anyone know from and to how many weeks an implantation bleed can occur? Have been thinking through all the possibilities though my GP has put 'threatened miscarriage' on my notes.

Sorry you are having to go through all this.

My closest friend had bleeding at 7 weeks and had a scan. They could see blood left over from implantation that had not been asborbed into the body and so was being expelled. As I said that was at 7 weeks.

Don't read too much into the doctor's notes. I went into hospital at 10 weeks with a "threatened miscarriage" and all could think was -well there must be something wrong with the baby so my body is doing the right thing, to try to come to terms with a potential MC. My bleeding and cramps stopped though, and when I (then) did some internet research I found that "threatened miscarriage" means something quite different to the docs. While we as mums-to-be feel that means we are going to MC unless a miracle happens, in doctors terms it seems to be just - well there are some complications, which might actually sort themselves out.

I was put on progesterone and had a beautiful little girl in the end.

I know it's hard not to worry, panic and assume the worst, but I think it's may be better to think that you will be ok just cos positive thinking is much better for the soul.

Hope it all works out for you. xxx

Hope all goes well with your scan. What was the surgery you had? Have you had any scans to assess viability of pregnancy since all this has been going on? Take care

I had a laproscopy. My first scan since then will be the one on Thursday as they had to leave enough time between scans to see a difference. The scan I had the day before the op showed the pregnancy was viable, but possibly ectopic.

Thanks hun That means a lot.

I've done a lot more reading around and I'm feeling a bit more positive about things.
