Do you think private scans are a waste of money?

I really really really REALLY! wanna know the sex of the baby so i am thinking about going for a private 16week scan with babybond and see what we're having. I know thats it not long to wait until the next nhs scan at the end of april but im dying to know what we're having.
My mum said its the first one so its nice to do something special but other people ive spoken to are REALLY against it and think its best to wait and the money (£80) could be spent on better things atm.
I get both sides of the arguement.
What does everyone else think?
xx

If you have the spare cash go for it. I was torn but figured the money could go towards a cot or something

I personally think, there's no point.. as u aint gt long till ur next scan, therefore my question would b whats the hurry?? i know it's exciting but imagine whatelse u can do with that £80 for the little one & plus waiting sometimes is exciting too, something 2 luk 4ward to. Good luck in whatever u do hun x

Hmm, personally, I would do what you want to do. But here's a suggestion...why not save the money because it's not always possible to tell what the gender is on a scan, then wait until your NHS scan, and if they can't tell you what the gender is, go for a private one!

Not at all... not for me anyway. I lost my last little girl at 20 weeks. I never made it to the 20 week NHS scan. So far I've had one private scan and 2 nhs scans. I have booked a private gender scan for 2 weeks time. I will be making the most of being pregnant and seeing my baby in my belly. DEFINATELY worth it, for them precious memories xxx

i say go for it!

i had one at 18 weeks with my first, found out i was having a girl

at my 20 week nhs scan they wouldnt say , she said " it might be a girl but i wouldnt like to say " they also did the same to my friend, i think they are scared of being sued or something.

go for the private scan! & just enjoy it

id say if you can afford it do it, i wanted one last time but we were abit skint so i never had one but this time i think i will, just a thought though why not have it after the 20week scan say about 25/26 weeks, i always think that from 20weeks you have a whole nother 20weeks til you get to see the baby again so why not split it up abit! xx
