long time off

I know its along way off but after seeing my scan on weds,my little un(well not so little now)11, has asked if he can be there at the birth.I have no probs with this and told him it may get a little gory but hes not put off.I then asked my nearly 16yr old daughter who told me in no certain terms that theres no way she wants to see my bits(i did explain she could sit at the top of the bed but no).She did say if kieron handles it shed like to be there nxt time we have a baby lol.Has anyone else had there kids at the birth and how did they handle it?

I was at my mums birth (i was 12) when she had my little brother.....to be honest i didnt really understand fully what was going on (i thought the umbilical cord slithered back in!! ) I remember the head coming out and to be honest, i never really saw it as "my mum's vagina"...it just was what it was....and it gave me and my little brother an extra bond and we are very close now and i think that is because i saw him being born....

All i would say is make sure he is aware that you will be in a LOT of pain but that you will be ok....it freaked me out a bit that my mum was in soo much pain....

I think it would be an amazing thing - imagine what a wonderful man he will be when he grows up! But I would talk to him about what it can entail and also warn him that closer to the time, the plans may need to change if any complications should arise.
