WHY do they want my bladder so full>>

I am half way down my liter of water that i have to drink, and be done drinking an HOUR before my scan... how am i supposed to hold it? I already have to pee.... and I dont get in till for an hour and a bit! My bladder always hurts by the end of a scan, last time i almost peed on the ultrasound bed!!!!

Anyone else have trouble??

Hiya,

i asked the same Q last week!! My scan was booked for 1pm, at 1159 I did the longest pee, and somehow managed to hold it till after the scan - which over run! (Typical!)
They only advise you drink 1-2 pints an hour before, and this is so they get a clearer view. I just sipped squash after my long pee, and think i only managed 1 pint - if that, and i got some incredible pics!!

You dont have to drink so much. Everyones bladders are different.

Drink enough to have a 'full' bladder, but not so much that you will pee yourself. Also, I would try 30 mins before your scan coz i find 1 hour is too long and almost always had to go 'let some out' before my scan haha.

Yikkes, i am already cheating... only drinking 750 millis instead of 1000... and i have to pee.... I swear my teeth are floating!

A litre?! I was told 1 pint! God i find drinking 1 pint bad enough but my suggestion would be dont down it, just drink at your normal rate and you shouldn't need to wee straight away!!

oh man, its just double punishment to ask a pregnant woman to hold that much pee!!

a full bladder i guess is a great window to the baby... when i was pregnant with the twinks i figured if they couldnt see what they needed to see without me drinking all that water they needed to find a different job

My info said that you shouldn't go for a pee less than half an hour before the scan!!! Go pee and then drink some more
