I have days like this, some days its the exact opposite. I'd try to eat a balanced diet and loads of roughage.

I usually down a couple of glasses of orange juice in the morning when I wake up if I feel that it is probably going to be a bad day. It helps speed up the processs.

Fruit juice is good, there are also some herbal teas you can try, though I find green tea always helps first thing in the morning (before I've eaten). Some breakfast cereals have higher levels of fibre, like All Bran. I find prunes help too, but I guess you have to like them! Oh, and dried fruits, like dried mango have a lot of fibre.

I've had this for about a week at a time on many occasions so far in my pregnancy. I usually eat about 6 or 7 prunes and a day later I'm fine again but if that doesn't work you can try taking a large dose of milk of magnesia. It has instructions for constipation on the back of the bottle and it works withi a day or 2. If that doesn't work maybe your doctor can give you something. I've always been reluctant to strain too hard because I don't want piles!!
