I can't help it - I know it's too early to buy but window-shopping doesn't hurt, and I like to think happy vibes are good for junior

I don't think buying anything early is bad luck. You buying a few items isn't going to bring on a MC. I think its smart as there's a lot to buy and starting early can help distribute the costs over a few months. I haven't bought anything yet but it's because we're changing rooms and I want to wait till we have the carpet clean before putting the stuff in the room.

i haven't actually bought anything yet, other than a couple of magazines, but we did the budget thing WAY before we even started ttc, and that meant searching for rough prices for the bigger things on the internet. we are currently working really hard to pay off some debts and had to work out when we could realistically afford to have a baby!

we are planning to start getting a few things next week after our scan. i don't believe in bad luck or tempting fate, although i understand why some people put off buying until later, as it must be so hard to see all the baby's things if you do suffer a loss. but we simply have to spread the cost, so it makes sense to start soon. i think you just have to do whatever feels right for you. happy shopping x

Nothing wrong with feeling excited and planning!
I also don't believe in bad luck or tempting fate or any of the other superstitious stuff. I agree with shambaby though - I can also understand not wanting piles of baby gear around if you do suffer a miscarriage. That might make things harder. But that's very much a to each their own decision, I think. Some people might be okay with that. I probably would be, myself. I don't think the presence of baby things would make me feel any worse than I already did. I don't know. Hard to say unless you've been in the situation, I guess.
Thinking positively, it's more important to me to be prepared for the major financial adjustment of having a baby and to have time to find bargains for all the baby gear.
I did most of my shopping secondhand and we planned our parental leave year really carefully. We really didn't want to be stressed by expenses if we could help it. Starting early worked really well for us.

I am very impressed with myself, i haven't bought a single thing for the baby. I love shopping but since i found out i was pregnant i have been so disciplined with saving my money. The only things i have bought are maternity pants and tops, i needed them from 8 weeks on.

I bought nappies from asda as they were £1 for the newborn ones. Scared me really!!!!!! We've been looking at everything but not making any decisions about big purchases yet. The nappies are the only thing we've bought. Am still scared!!!!
