Finding out how far along you are

Okay, so I'm only supposed to be 8 weeks tomorrow. According to my last period and all. But seriously, I am absolutely HUGE already. I look like I'm wayyy further along than 8 weeks. I look like I should be in my 3rd or 4th month. I saw my mom for the first time today since she's found out I'm pregnant and she goes "Raelene, there is NO way in HELL you are only 8 weeks. You just aren't."

Most of you have heard me complain that my doctor isn't giving me a scan until I'm 18 weeks, which isn't until July 7th. That's just the way she does things, and where I had my period I doubt very much that she is even going to consider giving me one earlier, no matter how much I beg her. She's a real stickler. Is there any way I can get some other test to tell how far along I am? I mean seriously, I'm either further along or I'm carrying 8 babies haha.

Was it a normal period? If it was then you can't be further.

Go and get a private dating scan, they arent that expensive for the basic ones. I dont think there is much else you can do, sept go to another doctor, although i'm sure once you get to a certain stage a midwife/doctor can feel you and can gestimate.

Have you had fairly regular periods for your whole life? Regular in time and heaviness?

Its possible to still have a very light period depending on when the baby was conceived. Which would put you at about 12 weeks. Have you increased your eating habits alot since you found out? (not trying to be rude here! LOL)

However, everyones bodies are different. I am like 12 weeks and I havent put on a pound OR changed shape. I get slight bloating now and then. One gal I work with is 5 months and her bump is so tiny you can barely notice it.

But there are other people who just pop out quicker... It also depends on what kind of physical shape your body and core muscles were in.

Has your doctor seen your tummy? They can usually tell by feeling and measurements. Some people just start to show alot sooner than others.
They can feel your tummy, and make a pretty good guestimate... have you had your fundal height measured yet? Don't remember if they measur that early or not, as the uterus is still low in the pelvis.
Also you could have had what you thought was a period (dont know what to call them, my GP calls them fake periods), and be closer to 12 weeks.

Hopefully I'm just showing early. As much as some people would LOVE to be further along, its really really going to mess up graduating in December if I'm due in like November haha. I'm going to see my ob-gyn again on May 8th, so I'm sure she'll notice that I all of a sudden have a bump out of nowhere. If not, I will blatently point it out to her and beg her for a dating scan/uterus exam.

And no, I'm not eating more than I normally do at all. I've actually been eating a hell of a lot healthier and less food, so I shouldn't be gaining fat.
