Anyone not breast feeding for different reasons?

Was not going to breast feed, until I read it can help you lose the weight quicker, and return your uterus to its normal size...Great! I intend on using a breast pump if the breast feeding thing doesn't work out for me. I actually don't like watching/hearing public bfing. It's something that's natural however, makes me cringe. Anyone else?

I will not be breastfeeding simply for the reason it has never appealed to me personally. I'm not sure if that makes sense to anyone or not. With my DD I didn't see any point as I returned to work 2 weeks after she was born and just thought pumping would be too big of a hassle. Also, I really wanted my DH to be able to feed as freely and readily as I could. I am a nurse but do not put much stock into the, "breast is best" theory. My DD is such a healthy child and I know a lot of children that were breastfed that have horrible allergies, etc. Luckily, my DH leaves these types of decisions up to me and makes it totally my choice.

I completely feel you. Breast feeding freaked me out actually. Im open to giving things a whirl, but not written in stone. What is a DD, and a DH? I have my guesses but I want to be sure.

Oh sorry honey. DD- dear daughter and DH= dear hubby. All these abbreviations get kind of confusing. LOL
I don't know why it never felt right to me. I just never wanted to try at all. My mom didn't breastfeed me either though so....who knows?

I got boob fed, so don't think theres a connection. The first time I saw someone doing that I was like 10, and the person didn't use a blanket. I was at my godmothers home, and her daughter had an infant. It was like watching something a little too "real" for me.

I'm not breastfeeding simply because my nipples are inverted and had a hell of a time w/ my first. i prefer to pump for the first few months.

The thought of breastfeeding has never appealed to me, H2B never got to interact much with his other 2 children from another woman because he was in the army so was away a lot plus she breastfed so I want him to be able to be involved in every way possible.

I think I might try it and maybe do a bit of both but I honestly don't know.

oh.... i will definitly be breastfeeding. there are so many benefits.
its FREE for starters.
Has all the nutrients your little one will need (so much better than formular)
Helps you loose the weight quicker
You bond with the baby.

The same as some, i was totally dead against it until i actually had been TTC for over a year and then the more i read the more it won me over.
I will be breast feeding for the first few weeks just to get the milk flowing but then will be expressing permenently so OH can also take part in the feeds. I dont like the idea of breastfeeding in public either so will definitly be resorting to expressing and bottle feeding that way.

Each to their own though.

xxx

I'm keeping an open mind.. with my son I went through pregnancy insisting I was going to breastfeed. However the reality was very different and after a hospital admission because he wasn't feeding, I had to admit the formula was best for us. I was so disappointed in myself but now that I have a clearer head I understand it was a turning point for us. I think if I had been more open minded I wouldn't have got myself so upset.

All that said, it hasn't put me off breastfeeding, I will give it a go with this one. But I know long tem I will formula feed, especially with having 2 under 2.

I think its a very personal choice and really sad when people get criticised for choosing one way or the other.. and I did get criticised for both choices! what I will say is try not to worry about feeding in front of people. I felt the same but one I had my baby it just felt like I was feeding my baby and not awkward at all, you can feed them without people even knowing x
