I'm Currently Feeling: | Scary few days I hope you all don't mind but I'm having a scary time and I need to share it with people.
I'm 6-7 weeks into my first pregnancy. Yesterday I noticed a small amount of blood when I went to the toilet. It wasn't at all heavy but it panicked me. I;m not having any particular cramps or anything but I didn't want to take any chances. As I was away from home, i went to the nearest hospital. The obs and gyn consultant came, did an internal and said he couldn't see an obvious bleed & the womb was closed. He suggested I got home and then went for an emergency scan today.
Throughout today I've had tiny amounts of brown discharge - Went to the GP today and she has booked me a scan for tomorrow morning. She did another pregnancy test which is still positive but she was very non-committal. She said that it was only a tiny amount of bleeding which is generally more positive but until tomorrow we wont know. This afternoon I've had very very mild cramps (as I've had since the start) but of course now I'm reading the worst into them.
Today has been the slowest and one of the most scary of my life. All day I've been paranoid by every slight twinge and have been to the loo about every 20 seconds to check I'm not bleeding more heavily. I think I'm going mad! I'm also very emotional (understandably I think!) but I hate the fact I can't stop crying.
Has anyone else been through something similar? Did you have any effective methods for stopping yourselves going insane? I know it's only about 19hrs until I find out for sure but it's horrible waiting.
Thanks for taking time to read this. Any comments would be gratefully received. Will keep you posted. Send me positive thoughts please | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I know the feeling. I must tell you though, bleeding and cramps are both perfectly normal and unless the cramps are unbearable or the bleeding has clots in it there is still a great amount of hope for you and your baby. I didn't sleep the night I started bleeding, luckily my scan was in the morning and I didn't have to wait too long. After all the problems I had, had before that, the fact I was bleeding made me 100% sure I was going to lose my baby. I was wrong and she is still in there, happy as can be.
I really hope your scan goes well and try to keep busy (nothing to strenuous obviously) to keep your mind off of it. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hiya, I'm going through similar things, however my midwife has stupidly left it to me to make the early scan and i am just too scared so I've gone into denial, now my spotting has stopped. At the moment I just don't want to know! Though I do still check everytime I feel something. You are not alone remember that. It conforts me to know that two of my friends had a LOT more bleeding than I and you did and have both gone on to have happy healthy babies. Let me know how you go on hun. Sticky dust your way. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Although its hard, try not to worry too much hun. Many people experience some kind of spotting early on in their pregnancy, and still go on to have happy, healthy babies. Wishing you all the best for your scan tomorrow, please let us know how u get on. xxx |

I havent bled but my sister did and its very scary. She went on to have a normal pregnancy and healthy baby so its not always bad news.
Where are you having the scan?? I heard they dont have scan facilities at the Huddersfield hospital!!! I was shocked!!!

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thanks for all your encouraging words. I'm trying to be positive and your comments have really helped.
There is scanning facility in Huddersfield (that's where I'm going tomorrow) but most early pregnancy stuff takes place in Halifax. There's a large early pregnancy and assisted conception unit at the Calderdale hospital. | | | | Status: Offline

A girl I work with lives in Hudds and I was really suprised when she said she didnt get a 12 wk scan. I'm in Brighouse so I could have gone to either but I decided as I had my daughter in Halifax (before the new hospital was built) I'd just go there again.
Good luck tomorrow. Let us know how you get on.
